Requirements?

  1. 0 I'm an LVN right now working on getting into the RN transition program. Currently I am working in a SNF but hope to specialize in oncology & I'm just wondering if BSN is a typical requirement? I do plan to eventually get my BSN but I'm just not in a big hurry. Any info would be wonderful & greatly appreciated!!

You don't need bsn to be oncology nurse. I'm diploma nurse. We get certified & have additional classes before we can hang chemo, take stem cell patients, etc

If the hospital itself requires a BSN then yes. If not, then no. It's not like Med/Surg takes diploma and ADN nurses but oncology only takes BSNs... the hospital typically makes those requirements. In my city yes, you need a BSN but that's because that's what all the big name hospitals demand.
