my first oncology child.

  1. 0 two days ago a nine year old came in with pain to her right thigh, nil swelling or defomity noted.x-ray revealed nothing,ct scan reavealed bone cancer. it was in the late stages that her only option might be above right knee amputation.I was devastated, wondering and praying that there has to be another way, i was emotinally upset, worried about the child and her family.

Amputation is pretty standard treatment for bone cancers. Children have the amazing ability to adapt. Most children I have worked with who have undergone amputations, you would never know unless they showed you their prosthesis. They run, jump, climb like nothing ever happened.
