lisa had her sx on 7/7 and received the results of her cytology report today from her oncologist.

they did a lumpectomy, with the tumor being larger than anticipated; and a sentinel node biopsy with a total of 4 lymph nodes removed.

all were positive for cancer. her oncologist also warned lisa that because of elevated tumor markers (cea & ca 15-3????), there's a chance that it already has gone to her bones since lisa has been c/o pelvic/back pain. the onc is scheduling a bone and ct scan. appt. with radiation onc tomorrow, surgical onc on friday and chemo onc on monday.

at this moment, i do not feel optimistic.
but prayers cannot hurt. bless you all.

Leslie, I put you and your sister on a prayer list that I started for myself to remember those that I love and care about so that everyday I can spend a few minutes with God and have the list in front of me, b/c everyone needs prayer whether they are on top of the world or the bottom.

    God Bless

Leslie....know my heart is always there with you and Lisa. Prayers continue to be said and it goes without saying that if there is anything I can do for you here, do not hesitate to ask.

My dear sweet girl, I do so wish I could take your pain away from you. My heart aches for you too, and I'm placing you in God's arms for strength to get through this very tough time, and for comfort and love knowing that He is there with you as I am too.

Oh no, I'm so sorry to hear the news.

I know what it's like to have sister with cancer, although mine was older than me. It was the hardest thing ever for all of us to go through. I'll keep you and your sis in my thoughts

    Hello,
I am not a nurse, as a matter of fact I am just starting nursing school this week. However, I was on this board to find out any useful websites with credible info on breast cancer myself. I am so sorry to hear of your sisters news. Unfortunatly, I know the anger, hurt and frustration of seeing someone you dearly love battle this disease. My aunt (ironically named Lisa)who just turned 44 has just found out her breast cancer has reoccured. October would have been her 8 year cancer free mark. She has metastatic bc this time in the bone- the skull and the ribs. Her Dr.s told her there is hope and this is not a death sentence!!! She is on a drug now called aromasin(spelling??) to hopefully halt any progression. I want you to know that your sister, her family, and you are in my prayers at this difficult time. There is NOTHING impossible with the Lord!!! My aunt is one of the people who deals with it better by talking about it, your sister may or may not be, but she is frustrated with constantly talking about it. So, I got her a journal and made her a "journal jar". You write down different ideas on paper tear and fold them and put them all in the jar. Each day she takes out a slip paste it in her journal and writes about it below it. Stuff like, tell a funny story that happened to you in grade school, describe the birth of your children, what did you homeplace look and smell like as a child, describe your wedding day. It has really helped occupy some free time that would otherwise be worry time. Anyway, may God Bless your sister and your family and if I can help in ANYWAY just let me know. Sometimes it is good to talk or just to let things off your chest.

psychologically/emotionally, she's really not doing very well. you'll get a better sense of her under the other thread...thank you for asking fran.
