Why wouldn't it be? Isn't it an antimetabolite agent like cytarabine, gemcitabine...?

I am genuinely asking because I'm new... gave the fluorouracil for the first time the other day, and want to know if there's anything I missed when I looked up the drug.

Well, that's my thinking too, but I heard something recently that implied otherwise, so I thought I'd pose the question.

When I was on 5-FU, I was sure it was a chemo because it acted and felt like a chemo drug.

    It's classified at an antimetabolite.
It is a Pyrimidine antagonist which blocks the cell growth at that cell cycle.
