Has anyone attended their lpn program? I'm applying to metro tech but I'm not sure if I'll have enough points to get in so I'm looking for other options.

I currently attend the LPN program at Platt here in the OKC metro. Well let's just say try your very very hardest to get into another school and if all else fails, go to Platt. The majority of my classmates struggle profusely to just barely pass classes. There are only a handful of students I expect to make it to the end. We started with like 33 and we are down to 16. We just had all our finals and those who didn't make a 77% or above got cut from the program. We had like 8 students get cut last week after final grades. As I'm sure you already know that the program runs you about $34,000 dollars and in comparison to Metro Tech or Moore Norman the program at Platt is grossly sub par. There is a lot of self learning involved, so if you want to succeed it really depends on your motivation. Good luck!

Wow. What is the schedule like? I'm so eager to start school and I'm running out of options. I'm 25 and we have 4 kids so I'm looking to get school done ASAP. Hopefully I will get into metro tech but their classes don't start until October and I'm sure I won't have enough points.

First 3 months of school is M-F 8-4. Once clinicals begin you go to school Mon/Wed 8-4 and to your clinical site Thurs/Fri from either 6:45am-3pm or 2:45pm-11pm. I am close to your age with children as well, so I definitely hear you about not wanting to wait around to see if you get accepted other at other places. I just get upset with my school bc it costs so much and the teachers/curriculum/skills lab instruction/supplies are lacking and/or limited.

yet it is way more expensive then metro tech. I've heard metro tech has a pretty good program and I'm still hoping to get in. If all else fails I will apply to Platt.

Are you at the Moore campus? I just spoke to someone and she said they only have night classes for the okc campus. M T TH 5:45pm-10pm and Sat 8am-5pm. I'm supposed to meet with her on wednesday next week. What was the admission process like for you?

Ya I'm in Moore. They've combined classes when necessary from students who applied at Moore and Central bc they didn't have enough students at each school for a full class. Students who applied at Central were asked if they would like to attend the LPN program then they would have to attend in Moore. They called and asked the students in advance before classes ever began, they did not drop it on them after classes had started. I did my information consultation and set a time to come in and take the Hesi. I came in and took my test and passed on the first try. After I took my test I took my scores to the admission representative I'd met with previously and set up a Director of Nursing interview. I attended my DON interview and was given an acceptance letter at the end of my interview. And the rest is rock and roll history........................lol

Ok thanks for the info! It sounds more simple then metro tech. They have a point system and they take the top 24 applicants. They are my first choice but I will keep Platt in mind if things don't go my way!

Hoping2BeANurse are you planning on attending Platts evening program? I am planning to. I did have other plans but of course they didn't go as planned. I need something fast. Im a single mom of 3 and it's getting tough. I've already taken the Hesi Exam and passed first try too.

Classes are 3 days a week i think mon, tues, thursdays 530ish to 10. Then 8-5 on Saturdays. Something like that anyways. The next evening class starts in August.

So I finally met with someone in admissions today. I have to take HESI test, get my high school and college transcripts, and 3 professional references, which I don't have because I've been a stay at home mom since 2014. That's the only part I'm worried about! Also does it really take 4 hrs to take the HESI test.
