TTC LPN Program

Updated Sep 03, 2007 at 08:43 AM by HopefulRN09

Has anyone taken the program? I was just wondering what it was like, where do you do your clinical rotations? how long does it take to complete? I know someone said it was sort of a self-paced course. Just trying to get some info. thanks for the feedback

There are a couple of us on here that went through the program. I found it to be pretty easy most of the time, yet learned what I needed and had a few challenges as well. My instructor was extremely supportive as were the majority of our clinical instructors. My class had most of our upper level clinicals at St. John, but OB was at Hillcrest, peds at St. Francis, intro at Methodist Manor. Every class ends up somewhere different and a lot of the instructors have a preference for which hospital they'd like to be at. They use all the hospitals.
If you have any more specific questions feel free to reply back or PM me. I'd be happy to answer.

I went through the program from Aug 2006 to June 2007. I liked the self-paced nature of the program but be prepared that they say you can get through in 7 months but that does not include clinical time or preceptorship so plan on at least 10 months of your time. I found the coursework medium but the tests range from easier to very hard (at least for me). If you plan to go on to the LPN to RN bridge at TCC I did not feel like I was prepared to test out of OB-Peds. I have a few other comments. PM me if you like.

Hey! I am starting TTC's LPN program in March. I saw you said some things about it being self-paced.. I just wondered how so? Also, how can some complete the program faster if we all have to do clinicals together? I've been trying to get ahold of the instructor but haven't been able to. We have had our orientation so I have an idea of how the class is run, but I've been wondering about that.

If you could email me ], I would appreciate it so much!

Thank you!!!

Courtney

There are clinicals going on all the time so you can join in with other classes for clinicals. I think I finished clinicals in May yet other of my classmates finished at various times over that summer.

Tulsa Tech is a great LPN program. I graduated in June of 2006. It is supposed to be a 13 month long program. However, I graduated in 8 months - and I had several weeks off, both for the holidays and also while waiting for the final clinical rotation to begin. The school says the program is "self-directed" and they lean away from saying "self-paced". There is not much flexibility with clinicals, and you can only graduate after all clinicals are complete. However, where you find flexibility is in testing. Exams are computerized and are not completed as a class, so you can test as soon as you feel you know the subject matter. It is very much an independent study program, as there is not a lot of lecturing. As for clinicals, I did most of mine at St Francis.

Good luck and feel free to message me for more info...

I was told that if you do the Bridge Program, you do not have to work a year before starting the RN program at TCC.

I'm curious about the financial part of TTC...it didn't appear that they have any access to student loans. Does anyone know anything at all about their financial set up or process? Since I've been using student loans and grants to get my pre-reqs at TCC, I was a little thrown when it didn't seem like the loans were an option at TTC.
