I am getting ready to start at TCC and was wondering if anyone else is as well? Do you know anyone in the program or who has been through it recently? Any ideas on what we can expect?

Also, we have our first level schedules, but can anyone shed some light on what to expect for second level?

I started TCC in Fall too. I was wondering how it's going for you? Where are you doing clinicals? I am doing Montereau and so far I love it. We have our first care plan due this week and it's making me crazy so far. Also the wait for our test 3 grades is killing me.

Hi guys, I'm about to graduate from TCC's RN program this Dec!! As far as level one and two goes, be ready to be thrown to the wolves. Level 1 kinda holds ur hand whereas level 2 ur pretty much on ur own and the content gets ALOT more complex. But, that's not to say I don't recommend the program, because I do. Level 3 is OB/Peds/QOL and it's easy and the instructors are WONDERFUL. Level 4 is well....difficult. I'm not really impressed. The majority of classes are anystreamed online and you start doing 12 hr clinicals-half the semester on a med/surg floor and half in the ICU. The clinicals have been a real learning opportunity tho and a lot of my class already has RN jobs lined up for when they graduate, including me =). What it comes down to is, is TCC going to prepare you to pass ur NCLEX? And I say yes, definitely, it has one of the highest pass rates in the state and that's what counts. So if you have any other questions, feel free to ask away, I'll try to answer them as best I can!!

Congrats Mistiffy I am so proud of you! I know it's not easy but you did it! Level 1 has proven to be not that bad. I think I had myself way too psyched out. Level 2 is worse? YIKES! I have a great prof teaching my lab right now and I hope I have her at clinicals next semester. I am really looking forward to moving on.

After level 2 did you test for the LPN? If not, why?

Didn't go to TCC but tested for LPN halfway through, was expensive and time consuming but DO IT. For some reason it made me more confident (and I don't mean gave me a big ego) but allowed me to realize that I'm competent in exam taking, at least, lol, and also hopefully safe to take care of patients. But hey, many people don't need to take a test to tell themselves that, I'm just wierd.

When you say time consuming do you mean the time you spent studying or the time taking the test?

Honestly I didn't study, I'm a little hard headed and told myself that if I hadn't learned enough in my first year of my BSN program to pass the LPN test...then I wasn't doing something right. It took me from May 31st from submitting the equivalency paperwork until the day of getting my ATT and taking the test (Aug 14th I believe) to getting my license on Aug 31st. Cost 45 for equivalency, 200 for actual test, and 85 for licensure. Not cheap but glad I did it.
