OCU Kramer nursing

Well, this is just FYI. All the things you mentioned are very true. I attended the 1st semester in Fall 07 and out 40 students, about half were dropped or told to change their majors because they didn't fit the "mold" to their ratings rates up. The dean made accommodations to bypass certain students who didn't initially pass their finals (this was during the ice storm in which thousands of oklahomans were without power for weeks including me.) Many students went through chains of commands because some students who didn't have electricity issues benefited from the dean's unfair accommodations. A few years ago KSN had very low pass rates but have suddenly jumped up which is due to the aggressive weeding out to keep their ratings high.

I know a girl who switched majors this semester, which would've been her 4th but I don't know the specifics as to what happened with her. I am glad I got out after the 1st semester and am now in my 2nd semester at OSUOKC and I love it. KSN doesn't really reach out to their students. They aggressively promote their program because no one is beating down their doors to pay private tuition. I heard they are opening a DNP program now. Just approach with caution.

WOW it sounds like you may have received some bad info, now I will admit that I am in the RN-BSn program and I graduate this MAY. Whatever you were told is so far from the truth, the instructors are absolutely wonderful. Now I am not sure whether you are a traditional student or not because I am not familiar with that plan. As far as the instructors and courses for RN-BSN they do whatever they can to help us to succeed. No it is not easy, it is hard work. Do your work and you will not have any problems. This school is one of the best schools to go to for your nursing education. YES it is expensive it is a private school, and worth every penny. kEEP ME POSTED ON WHAT SCHOOL YOU DECIDE TO ATTEND AND WHY, if you don't mind. Once again it is a great school.

I was wondering how long it would it take before a defensive comment came. There are many students to back me up on what I posted above. So what I posted is the truth and since you are from the RN-BSN route, you can't really give a full description of the traditional program. And the original poster is most likely inquiring about the traditional BSN program. The OP is just asking for info about what he/she had already heard, not from me, but from elsewhere. I'm just giving the info asked. Their accreditation has been shaky in the past and to up their ratings (since they have no admissions standards beyond gpa)KSN will quickly fail out any/all who are not testing well. So any students that may need extra help and reach out for it will not receive it. So then students are stuck with massive school loans and no degree. OCU will take all applicants but they have a high attrition rate. In the end, it is bad business to accept many and pass few. Not trying to sway the OP's decision, just giving the info he/she asked for.

I would say that I am sorry that you didn't pass and had a bad experience, but well you just didn't cut the mustard there did you. We can all blame others for not succeeding in certain things, but ultimately you decide whether you will succeed or not. Maybe you should go back and read my first post because obviously you are upset and did not completely read it. I clearly stated that I was not on the traditional track. Now Kramer is rated in the top 10% of nursing schools and I do not know about OSU-OKC maybe they are too. The facts are though you did not make it at Kramer that does not mean that the original person who posted this thread will not. We are all nurses or will be very soon, and with that I want to say good luck to you at OSU-OKC and it is wonderful that you are having success there.

Well guys and gals, it looks as though I am going to have to agree with Ambitiouz here. OCU-KSN is a ridiculous program. Trust me, I know from experience. I was one of the individuals who experienced this "weeding out" policy. And there was a law suit on KSN that I did not know of until after I was "weeded out" of the program. I needed extra help. So like most students I contacted my professors for help. There were 6 occasions where my meetings were mysteriously canceled on the day of our scheduled meetings. This was with two different professors. Then when I finally met with one professor she told me that nursing was not for me and that I just needed to change my major. Strange how this meeting was finally conducted after half of the semester was finally over with. This treatment amongst more is why I would not recommend OCU-KSN. But I had to move on from KSN, because I never received adequate help and did not pass.

To be honest, I was truly blessed for receiving this treatment during my first semester at OCU-KSN. There were at least 3 people that I know of personally who also did not pass the first semester, but they let them go through the program. I don't know if it was the color of their skin, or feeling intimidated because they felt threatened by one student who told them they would report their activity to the news channels. But back to me being blessed, there is one student who completed 3 semesters at KSN. This student had some issues and ended up being off by one tenth of a point and they did not help this student. Yet two other students were off by one full point and KSN let them slide through.

And there used to be at least 2 professors who actually had the real caring spirit and personality nurses should possess. One professor left after I left and the other professor tried to stay and make a difference for another semester. Unfortunately this professor left in the middle of that semester. This professor could not bare the lack of treatment and indepth discrimination to students. So now who would a new student have to help them out????

Anyone who is considering being apart of KSN, should seriously think twice about it. I am glad the word is getting out. And if you know of anyone who is considering being a part of KSN PLEASE encourage them to look elsewhere. You will be in debt, because the school is ridiculously high. I know becoming a nurse is an amazingly beautiful experience, but trust me there are other options. But do not just take my word for it, yet please take it into consideration. But I would encourage you to pray about it and ask God what is the right choice for you. I wish I had...

I noticed that their administrative board is not very diverse, which says a lot from my perspective. Lack of diveristy often results in one-sidedness and unfairness. And yes, they may have a high pass rate, but what it takes to look pretty isn't always done nicely.

Well, I know where I will not be applying.

If you have an extra 65k laying around...go for it.
