Western Oklahome Intersession classes

Nursing Students Ohio University

Who has done these? I'm planning on doing the anthropology one on Christmas break to meet the cross cultural requirement. Any info on it? How hard is it to do?

Thanks for all the input. I definitely do NOT want to do fashion and culture, so I will probably just suffer through it. I'm the same way, I want my A. As long as it's doable, I can make it work. I just want to be done by April as I have planned. I have to do Chemistry still as well, but am planning on taking that through Rio Solado.

I have to take chemestry too. Tell me about Rio Solado. Where can I find info about it?

Specializes in Correctional Nursing; MSN student.

I was considering taking stats there then heard it was much harder than it used to be. :(

Specializes in ICU, step down, dialysis.

Maybe you already know about this, but did you check out Ohio U's course by correspondence? I'm don't know if they have the classes you need, but may be worth checking out.

Specializes in OB.

Are there any other classes that can be done besides the Fashion and Culture one?

I went ahead and did my stats at a local college near me. I knew there was no way I could do that one on line. I'm glad I did it that way.

Specializes in Med/Surg, Neuro, ICU, travel RN, Psych.

I'm doing stats through OU, over the 15 weeks. Not looking forward t 15 weeks of that class, but I knew I couldn't do an accelerated course.

Cincinursemary, just do a search for Rio Solado and it will bring up their page. They have all the info on there. Classes start almost every Monday, so you don't have to wait. All the experiments are with household products. I can't do a campus class, with 2 kids work and school here. Chem is 3 days or nights a week here.

Didi, no I didn't even think about that. Those are all 15 week courses though right?

Boy it took some digging to find this again. Looks like the entire website changed. Anyways, you can take what they now call a "print version" of a course, or course credit by exam, or what they call Independent Study. I actually did my nutrition course through here, long before online courses (like 15 years ago). Here's the website:

eCampus

And this is the course list:

It was not easy to navigate around, but my understanding is you have 8 months to complete a course in this manner and can sign up anytime. Except I guess you have to wait until Oct 1

So Simply Complicated you took chemistry thru Rio??? I need it also. I am looking at the 8 week class thru Oregon State. It has a virtual lab.

Specializes in Med/Surg.

So glad someone already started a thread for this. I was just thinking about doing the 10 day intercession for Sociology. It says 4 exams and 3 papers. I wasn't so sure about doing all that in 10 days, but maybe I can do it after all. I see that for Winter they offer General Anthropology. I need to take Cultural, how do they differ? Anyone? I saw someone said that Cultural is offered in the summer. Maybe I'll wait for that one.

I was told by my advisor that it had to be cultural anthropology. When I saw it was not offered in the winter, I decided to take it this past summer. Some of the courses are not offered in some intercessions so you have to look ahead at the course offerings to plan.

I haven't yet. I was planning on starting it in November. I'll have to check out the Oregon State one too.
