I am registered to start Fall of 2012. Signed up for all my classes, expecting my Dars to come any day (registered in Feb!), told it would be the end of July. First, we get hit with a tuition hike... Read More

I'm on the fence about the APA software. I did buy one and did use it, it helped for the formatting overall, but I found that citationmachine.net was great for the references and in text citations. When I took 4510 I spent about 16 hours a week, but I was nervous and hadn't been to school in years so I perhaps over did it.
I liked the APA software too but found I used it more for big papers and not small ones. I also used citation machine extensively.

Are you doubling up on classes or taking one at a time? I work full time, have three kids, and a husband. I am curious as to how I will manage my time. Guess I will do it...Always have.

I just logged into Blackboard and am stroking out! I can't believe I thought this was a good idea after 15 years out of school! I don't even know about APA. I'm probably gonna die before the five weeks is over!

Ditto! I am already lost! How am I going to learn this APA stuff...today! I was excited to start school but now very unsure of myself. I have been out of school for 15 years as well.

15 years that's nothing, it's 21 for me! If other people can do it so can we. Let's just take it one day at a time.

I feel the exact same way! I'm stunned about the whole APA thing-I'm totally discouraged now.

It is very overwhelming, I know how you feel. I'm now in my third semester at Ohio U. When I started, I hadn't written a term paper since the early 1980s, and I did not know how to use MS Word at all, let alone APA. I was somehow able to learn it all but it took some time. There is a software program or perhaps more than one that can help you with APA; I bought one of them but found later I really only used it for lengthy papers.
    Hang in there!

there are downfalls to the APA software but you can google OWL. It is all I have used throughout the program( No APA book for me) besides ever nursing course outlines the basics you need for APA format. They are not looking to have you reinvent the wheel here. I started in Spring of 2011 and have had no issues with my papers. I also rent all of my books. If you look hard enough you can find your state nursing guides for free online or even check your hospital library if they have one.

The rate hike they started is really not that bad. I still find that is is cheaper and doable depending on how fast you want to get done. Besides I am not doing clinicals and that is a price worth paying a touch more for.LOL

Also the DARS has been an issue for most. You can forget about having it before you start. Mine was finally completed many months after starting the program. I check it often. I recently just found that they accepted my Public speaking for my Humanities credit. Very happy about that. If you are not satisfied you can always dispute it by calling and talking to the person preparing your DARS to find out why a course did not transfer.
