4580, Leadership is next. Can anyone tell me what to expect? Would it benefit me to start reading early?

I am in leadership next. It certainly can never hurt to read ahead.

I started in this program in the Spring of 2011. I have completed Cultural Diversity, Transitions Nursing, and Family Nursing. I am about to wrap up Gerontologic Nursing now. My next two are Community and Health Assessment and Promotion.

Cultural Diversity was fairly easy, just discussion boards and papers (time consuming, but easy). Transitions seemed to focus on APA formatting rather than content in your papers and discussion board.. however this seems to be TA dependent. My TA right now for Gero Nursing is VERY VERY picky and inconsistent in APA grading. Family nursing had quizzes, midterm and a final. It was SUPPOSEDLY from the chapters. HOWEVER she was so damned specific it was HORRIBLE. She sent a message that there were multiple perfect scores on the midterm.. there would be NO WAY without foul play. So work hard on your discussion boards and papers and then tests do not matter as much. I managed to get a A- even with 70 % tests.

THE BEST thing EVER for me is the program PERRLA. It is around 35 dollars. it puts everything in APA format for you. Paper and references. best $$ spent. It will save you LOADS of time. LOADS.

Son of Citation machine is helpful as well . However it makes me laugh when the TA's ding you on your references when you have used this SOn of Citation machine. Whatever.

GOOD LUCK! I appreciate ANY suggestions.

I still need to take a STATS class.. which one is best? (these are my choices :

MATH 1090 TO 4999 PHIL 1200 PSY 1110 , PSY 2110 ____________________I need a Tier one junior comp

and a cross cultural perspective class

a fine art class

Thanks!!!!!

Hi Everyone! I'm starting Ohio University's RN-BSN Program October 1st. I'm taking Professional Nursing Practice and Community Health Nursing from October 1st through November 3rd. After that I will be taking Health Assessment and Promotion in November. When will our courses be available on Blackboard?

Depends on the prof. Usually a day or two before the start of class, although I have heard something about not opening the classes early. Keep checking - those classes most likely will be open by the 29th.

My experience with Ohio University Online Program - Because I didn't mind waiting several months, I was comfortable with waiting for OU to get my transcripts and education credential evaluation (Canadian College). I was notified that I was enrolled, but never contacted by an advisor or instructed about course set-up. The website/email account I was given did not list an advisor or give any instructions either. I was already anxious about time differences and the possibility of losing or delaying information in the mail because I am currently living overseas. I had expressed this to admissions personel when I applied. When I contacted OU, the lady I spoke with claimed she was my advisor. She said that the expectation was that I would enroll in courses independantly. I did not know what courses to begin with. Had all my courses transferred? Did I need to repeat any classes? Where do I begin? I asked her if any of this information had been sent out? She said yes. When I told her I hadn't received it, her response was that she would have figured that out in a few weeks and would have contacted me. Good to know!!! Needless to say, I have lost confidence in the process and am currently not spending large amounts of money on something I can't guarantee. It is sad because I do have the time to study as I am unemployed.

Is this typical? Do you find the flow of communication predictable and fair now that you are in the midst of your courses?

Enrollment seems to be a weakness of OU's program. When I was accepted, I had an advisor listed. I also got an email that listed what nursing course to start with and everything was spelled out for me. I contacted my advisor about 3 times and each time got a response back right away.

I understand how you are not confident in OU at this point. So you decided not to take any classes with OU?

I just received my DARS report yesterday. First thing, should I have them correct the degrees I have? They only put "certificate" in 2000, when I received my BS in 1999, and "diploma" in 2010, when I received my AA in nursing in 2012.

Second, and most importantly, it says that I need 27 hours of lower nursing classes! *****! And now I can't find anywhere that lists the lower nursing classes. It just says "select from NUR 1*** or NUR2***. Seriously, 27 hours? I figured I'd probably have to take another stats class as my stats for criminal justice that I took in 1998 wouldn't work. I also need a tier III class. I thought I read here somewhere that the capstone NUR 4600 class will work for that, right? I was going to take nutrition 1000 to satisfy tier II applied science and math and then I need another tier II humanities and lit course. Kind of disappointed that nothing transferred from my BS for that, but whatever. Finally, what satisfies the jr. level eng comp class?

I'm on my 2nd and 3rd classes now, leadership and community health. Going well :)

I'd make sure that the Dars was correct... Any course that has a J at the end is Ok for the Junior Composition course.

How many nursing courses have you taken? They held my lower division nursing courses in "escrow" until I passed 2 nursing courses.
