Ohio University RN-to-BSN Program

Nursing Students Ohio University

Updated:   Published

Since it seems that there's quite a bit of interest, I'm attempting to start a new thread devoted exclusively to the OU on-line RN-BSN program that will hopefully build on the comments on assorted previous threads.

I'd like to ask nevergonnagiveup, mtsteelhorse and babynurse73 - all of whom (I think) are either already in the program or have applied for admission - to post about their experiences. I just sent in my application and plan to post periodically about relevant issues. If we can populate the thread with good material, it could become a very useful resource for both those considering the OU program and students already in it. Once that happens, I'd hope we could prevail upon the forum moderators to make it a sticky thread.

As indicated, I've only recently applied to the program. So far, I'm happy with the support and information I've gotten. I've been contacted by an OU "enrollment specialist" who was somewhat helpful (I suspect that they have dual roles, one being to provide basic information to prospective students and the other to follow-up with the prospects and help to fill the roster for the program). This person e-mailed me, followed up with a phone call and was able to provide some useful, if basic, information about the program. I also sent a lengthy e-mail to OU with quite a number of specific, detailed questions. This too resulted in both an e-mail and telephone response, this time from an academic advisor in the OU School of Nursing. Again I received some useful and quite helpful information. All in all, my early experience has been pretty positive.

As indicated above, I plan to post about relevant issues that come up as I work my way through the admission and evaluation process. I'd very much like to hear from others about their experience with OU and I'm sure that there will be a lot of interest by others in our collective experience with the program.

Hi, I'm new. Just taking my first NRS 451 course. Anyone staying up till 2am looking up reference papers?

I am looking to take Stats in the summer. Is it really hard? I'm not great in math. Is there much math in it?

any advice would be so helpful.

Under this section for Ohio University, find the March 26th start date thread. That is where those of us who started in March do most of our posting for 451. We all post in other areas as well, but we have been keeping any info that is relevant to those of us just starting in that thread!!

As of 12:42 AM on 4/25/2012, I can OFFICIAL say that I am DONE, FINISHED, FINITO with my BSN program at Ohio University. Although the past 15 months of going to school non-stop, while working, and taking care of my family, has had its challenges, I am still happy that I attended OU. Thanks Chuckster for creating this post. Who knew that one post would grow into this amazing lifeline for so many of us. Thanks to my cyber angels Casey and Angela, for your words of wisdom. Thanks to my graduation buddy Steph....I am in AWE of you. After hearing about your family, workload, and school schedule, I knew not to complain about ANYTHING being hard. And thanks to all of my cyber-buddies out there (too many to name), that kept be laughing when I really wanted to cry, and let me know that it would be all over SOON ENOUGH!!

I will now start clearing off my kitchen table. I haven't seen it in 15mon. I will start take photos again. Haven't "really" touched my camera in over 15mon. And I will go back to my every day life where I don't have to worry about quizzes, discussion boards, and APA format.

I'm not sure what I will do next education wise after a much needed break. I thought I wanted to be a FNP, but realized, that's not my passion. I think for now, I will continue to make a difference in the lives of my pediatric patients, and see where that leads me.

Continued success to all of you!!!

Love,

DeltaRoxxy ;)

I just finished 451:sleep: That was a lot of work, but it was 6 credit hours with the 2 classes combined. Was the book being used between Transitions, and then again Legal/ethics the only book that was used more than once? As far as I can tell from the book list that was the case. But just wanted to make sure, before I sell my books.

I decided to save my book from the Legal/Ethics class because I still have to take Intro to Ethics. I thought I could use this book as a reference.

Just an FYI to all of you who still have electives to take. Check out Cincinnati State Technical College and Sinclair. They are much cheaper than OU, I think around $85 per credit hour and their courses transfer. Just check with your advisor before taking a course there. I was able to take philosophy, nutrition and music through Cincinnati State and saved a lot of money. Good luck!
