The syllabus for this class was emailed yesterday. Most non-clinical assignments are DB items. Clinical looks fairly straightforward that culminates in a research paper. These are not clinicals in the classical sense of the word.... Read More

It is not a project in that since. It is more a series of papers. You think of a problem that you see in your work place and you come up with goals and solutions to the problem. Not anything that needs to be run by management in order for you to accomplish. It is more research oriented and you "meet" with your mentor to discuss things. I think people are making this much more complicated than it needs to be.

The areas you can decide to write about and research are listed at QSEN.org

I find myself just writing, thinking, researching articles and that is the extent of it. And talking with my mentor/slash coworker/preceptor who has a BSN. Remember this is called an INDIRECT clinical.

People...do not make this harder than it is!
    bushrn75 and emergencyken like this.

How many papers each week? How long? And are you still doing other assignments?

Thank you. That makes me feel relieved. I am starting to work on a project with my manager so I will keep my idea.

Other assignments consist of DB...one week has an extra DB and assignment in place of project work.

These are fill in the blank template papers (I find those easier to do) for three of the weeks of your "project". One week you just do a DB post about your "project" and the final week is a paper summarizing all your points from the previous weeks. Still need to cite and have references for of these writings every week..

The hardest part of the indirect clinical is thinking of what objective and goal you want to focus on and then finding the information to go with it. The areas of focus you choose from are found on QSEN.org Examples are Evidenced based practice, Quality assurance, safety, etc.

Doing fine. Week 5 you have a paper due with an abstract and one discussion board.

There are no tests in this class. Most weeks one discussion board and then filling in template for project with references...culminating in one large paper week 5. Week 4 you do 2 discussion boards...one outlining your project.

Good luck to all of you starting this class soon. I know you can handle it without a problem.

Thanks EmJean, your info the past several weeks about this class has decreased my anxiety about it. Can't wait to be done!!!

I can't tell you how happy I am to see this discussion! I'm getting ready to start this class, and have recieved all the emails and first assignment (where you fill in your topic/goals/etc). I've read this stuff a million times and do not understand what they want. Can anyone that has taken the class provide some topic examples? I'll think of my own of course but, I just don't have a clue of what they want! I did look at the QSEN site and that did not help me understand. Wish I had examples to direct me. I would like to do something that involves end of life care in some way. Just not sure how to apply the topic to the project.
