NRSE 414 Cultural Diversity - Page 8
Register Today!- May 5, '12 by Simply ComplicatedQuote from modgoth1Hi "simply" - I had the same problem trying to rent a book last quarter from Barnes & Noble. Ended up having to buy it and didn't get it as early as I would have liked it. Glad you got it all sorted out.
What does everyone do with their books after each class? Do you keep them, sell them, or a little of both? I do a little of both.
I was an insomniac last night so decided to dig into this class a little. I was able to get all my Mod.1 info organized, printed out what I wanted to print, and took the pre-assessment. I started working on both assignments for the week and I don't think they are too bad at all. I didn't find any inconsistencies with this Module. One thing I did not see for Mod. 1 work was any requirements for citations/references in assignments or discussion posts. My section hasn't received a letter from the TA yet, so that info might come in that letter. It would be wonderful if we did not have to use citations/refs. in discussion posts. My last class required 2 cite/refs. for everything, even in all replies to discussion posts.
I revamped my BSN schedule and plan to be done in February or March of 2013. My original plan was to be done in December but to do that I would have had to take 4 classes during summer quarter. I was stressing about it and realized that it just wasn't worth my sanity to take 4 classes at once. I'll have 3 classes this last 5 weeks (if I don't test out of 310) and they are going to be a lot for me to handle. I really wanted to be done by the end of the year but I guess a few more months isn't that much longer. Okay I'm just yammering on here, aren't I?
An extra couple months isn't horrible, especially when you consider that the 2 weeks of summer overlap, so that would really be a lot to take! I don't even know when I'll be done. I have to take a Chem class at some point. I'm probably going to do it online, since the classes here are all 3 days a week at the local colleges, and I can not do 3 days a week, work, a 3 year old and a newborn. Not happening, lol. I have to sit down and try to plot out my classes. I'm going to double up at some point, but I need to adjust to 2 kids first, I think. I wanted to double up this session, but there is nothing I can take, with the switch to semesters.
Not sure on the references. You are right, I never saw anything about it. Be nice if we don't have to worry about that! - May 5, '12 by rninmeWord to the wise ... ALWAYS reference even when it doesn't specifically state to. Got dinged once - never again!!

Stuck on electronically drawing the genogram. Also, do we need to list our aunts/uncles families??? Our cousins that is...? What about their spouses? - May 5, '12 by michelemybellQuote from mtsteelhorseWe'll have to see what they say. I added in my uncles just because. Those things can get pretty fancy!YES! - May 5, '12 by deltaroxxy2I drew it in Microsoft...
FYI…Keep your "family" SIMPLE.
My family consisted of both maternal and paternal grandparents (first row), their offsprings (which included my parents) (2nd row), my husband, me, my brother (3rd row), my kids (4th row). - May 6, '12 by Inimica18Call me crazy but I will be taken five classes at the same time in the summer. I'm hoping it will go down to four (being able to test out of 310). I have managed four classes before so I shall see. Also I am a bit worried about the genogram....I was born and raised in Germany and my whole family is still over there plus I don't know anybody (including my mom)on my Mom's side of the family because she left when I was one so I am a bit in a pickle here lol
A side note: does anybody know where to get book info from for classes other than the nursing or nursing support classes? - May 6, '12 by Simply ComplicatedI can't imagine juggling that many classes, lol. Good luck, Inimica18. I'm trying to make up my mind if I should take Business communications with my Intro to Arts class this summer. I'm afraid of overdoing it, since it would take me right up to my C-section. But at the same time, I really want to do the work I can before having this baby. I'll be working night shift, with lots of time to do homework at work. I work psych, and we have a good 3-4 hours where it's easy to have the work done, and the patients are usually asleep.
- May 6, '12 by cincinursemaryQuote from deltaroxxy2I did mine in Microsoft too. I only did my grandparents, mom and dad and siblings ( there were 10 kids). If I do another generation, it would show more cultural diversity to my family but the graph would be huge. My parents had 20 grandkids.I drew it in Microsoft...

Are you guys just labeling the square or circle with the person's relationship or are you adding any other info, ie: name, birthdate or whatever? - May 6, '12 by mtsteelhorseI'm going with simple. But honestly, I don't get the gist of the assignment if all relatives are American born, lily white, English speaking...vanilla and boring, lol
