Word to the wise ... ALWAYS reference even when it doesn't specifically state to. Got dinged once - never again!!

YES! Always cite a reference on discussions boards. Most classes do not require citations in the responses but always in the original post.

Stuck on electronically drawing the genogram. Also, do we need to list our aunts/uncles families??? Our cousins that is...? What about their spouses?

We'll have to see what they say. I added in my uncles just because. Those things can get pretty fancy!

I put in my parents' siblings but what about the siblings kids???

I drew it in Microsoft...

FYI…Keep your "family" SIMPLE.

My family consisted of both maternal and paternal grandparents (first row), their offsprings (which included my parents) (2nd row), my husband, me, my brother (3rd row), my kids (4th row).

Specializes in PICU.

Call me crazy but I will be taken five classes at the same time in the summer. I'm hoping it will go down to four (being able to test out of 310). I have managed four classes before so I shall see. Also I am a bit worried about the genogram....I was born and raised in Germany and my whole family is still over there plus I don't know anybody (including my mom)on my Mom's side of the family because she left when I was one so I am a bit in a pickle here lol

A side note: does anybody know where to get book info from for classes other than the nursing or nursing support classes?

Specializes in Med/Surg, Neuro, ICU, travel RN, Psych.

I can't imagine juggling that many classes, lol. Good luck, Inimica18. I'm trying to make up my mind if I should take Business communications with my Intro to Arts class this summer. I'm afraid of overdoing it, since it would take me right up to my C-section. But at the same time, I really want to do the work I can before having this baby. I'll be working night shift, with lots of time to do homework at work. I work psych, and we have a good 3-4 hours where it's easy to have the work done, and the patients are usually asleep.

I did mine in Microsoft too. I only did my grandparents, mom and dad and siblings ( there were 10 kids). If I do another generation, it would show more cultural diversity to my family but the graph would be huge. My parents had 20 grandkids.

Are you guys just labeling the square or circle with the person's relationship or are you adding any other info, ie: name, birthdate or whatever?

I'm going with simple. But honestly, I don't get the gist of the assignment if all relatives are American born, lily white, English speaking...vanilla and boring, lol :lol2:

Ok Crazy question but i am lost. How do i draw the genogram in microsoft word? Is their already a pre-done graph that i can fill in the blanks or do i have to make it myself?

Thanks:thankya: This is certainly a pain especially if your not a computer person.Did that part and like you i am having difficulty with the lines.

OK I figured out how to do the line, go to shapes and click on line then place the curser where you would like the line to be and drag it to where you want it to stop. I can only make straight lines so i have to then repeat to continue the line in another direction.
