I really dislike Blackboard...

Sorry to gripe, but I do. This is the first class I have taken in Blackboard, and it's annoying how much time I am spending hunting for things. It's not that I was necessarily in love with EPIC, but Blackboard seems so much harder to navigate.

I miss having everything neatly packaged in one module...readings, assignments, quizzes, etc. I also miss having a handy task lisk to show me what I needed to do, and the fact that items - once completed - would drop off the list. I am able to make Blackboard work; it's just not nearly as streamlined, it seems.

Am I just not using Blackboard correctly, or is anyone else experiencing this?

That is Blackboard! You can set up a task list for yourself but things don't drop off when completed, you have to manually do it. I am glad I have this class and 2 others next 5 weeks - then I am done. I miss Epic ....

I've had several classes using Blackboard so I have gotten used to it. With that said, I do think Epic was much easier to naviagte and I too liked how everything was neatly packed into each mod. I miss Epic too!

Ditto on Epic... seemed much easier from the student persective.

I agree. Epic was more student friendly. I also never experienced technical issues in Epic as I did during my summer music class on blackboard.

Blackboard is, like any other educational tool, as good as the instructor makes it. I've used it for years and found that some professors just don't care what it's like; others spend lots of time making sure that it is orderly. I'm still getting used to "the new look" of blackboard...some kind of upgrade from its former state. You'll get used to it (and the instructor's habits as well). Wish you the best! :)

Well, it really doesn't matter if you like it or not..........

I have used Blackboard in the past - and will not change my mind about it. I agree, it is up to the instructor to set it up. So far, it isn't set up very well. Editing posts has to be set by the instructor and that has not happened in this class. Also - we have it ingrained in us (especially those of us that are almost done)to type in word and copy/paste to the discussion board. Not in Blackboard - won't work. PITA are the words that come to mind ..... :banghead:

I used Blackboard for a year at a large university that was having no financial problems. I corresponded a bunch of times with the IT guy in charge, and there didn't seem to be a way to fix its most annoying aspects. They upgraded to a newer revision, which seemed to make things worse. I hope I don't have to deal with it again.

I have used Blackboard for 3 semesters now, and have no issues with it at all. If you're having issues, it's most likely the person (your instructor) that isn't setting up your course properly (organized and user friendly)

Yep. I've had awesome Blackboard content, and terrible waste of time Blackboard content. Just kind of depends on what/how much time the instructor is willing to put into it, I suppose.

MTA: Most classes I've had the instructor has set up a "To Do" list which can be marked completed, in progress, etc. as you go.

i've used Moodle, Blackboard and now using Angel

Loved moodle the most. E/T (and everything) was on one page. small icon by each link saying what it was (doc, ppt, excel, WWW page etc) new announcements on the right top and below that changes since the last log-on. Used it for my ADN program

hated blackboard. used that during one course for one course given my the Univ. we are connected to. I found it confusing compaired to moodle

Now using Angel for my BSN program. still getting used to it but its getting easier. I'm trying to figure out how to bookmark stuff for easy reference and stuff.

I'd say play around with blackboard a bit to find the hidden stuff or google tips for blackboard.
