Fall 12 NRSE 4520 Assessment and Promotion - Page 33
Register Today!- Nov 18, '12 by binglingerI agree. This course is the worst (I usually try not to complain). Theinstructions for "PURPOSE, GOALS, and LEARNING OBJECTIVES" is notmeaningful at all. What do we suppose to write? How much should we write? .....So frustrated! Any comments and suggestions are truly appreciated.

- Nov 18, '12 by EmJeanRNGood bad or ugly I submitted my assessment. I kept it simple to skin, hair, nails, overall lymphatics and peripheral vascular. It was 6 pages long with title page and references. Nothing fancy. My narrative summary was just that...a summary of my client.
I only utilized chapters 13 and 20 with just a mention of breasts from 17 because the client mentioned something about right breast. fI client did not mention an issue I did not include it in my assessment write up...so eyes, ears, nose throat, chest heart blah, blah were not covered in my assessment.
I will see how off base or not when it gets graded. NO we are NOT expected to have that equipment and to utilize it. The example submitted to us does not include any eye exams etc. - Nov 18, '12 by cincinursemaryOh NO, another glitch. When I went to MY Grades to be sure I had done everything, there was no consent. I went to the submission page and it was there. But when I scanned it, the computer saved it as a bitmap (whatever the heck that is), so I guess the OU software in blackboard does not recognize it. I can't resubmit it. The TA announcement says if no consent you get a zero for the assignment.
I emailed the TA and sent it as an attachment, keeping fingers crossed that she will open it and accept it.
If I get a zero after all those hours of work on the assignment because the computer would not save a scanned document any other format, I will scream.......... or more......
Has anyone else had this happen. I'm really nervous now. - Nov 18, '12 by cincinursemaryQuote from cincinursemaryCrisis averted! TA says that class 2 consents are showing up under class 5 for some reason. What a relief..........that had me really nervous.Oh NO, another glitch. - Nov 19, '12 by DidiRNQuote from radmomI hate to say this, but for me, this is the best class I've had since Fall Semester started lol. Yeah, it's not perfect, but after dealing with the mass confusion, the almost illiterate instructions on assignments, disorganization and wretched TAs of Research and Leadership earlier, this class has been somewhat of a relief for me.Did anyone notice that under assignments, the assignments are worth 25 points, 10 points and 12 points, but all say 5% of your final grade?
I don't know exactly who is to blame, but between the lousy instructions, the TA's not communicating proper explanations, and all the typos and such - this is the most unorganized, unprofessional, confusing class I have ever taken!EmJeanRN likes this. - Nov 19, '12 by PeanutButterJellyI feel that the discussions are more work than previous classes I took. I thought these online course discussion boards werre to take the place of class participation in a regular classroom. I never raised my hand and referenced anything I said before in a regular classroom. Eh this weeks discussion seems very indeph this week. Lots of questions to answer... ugh week three!
- Nov 19, '12 by Simply ComplicatedThe discussions are pretty involved. I'm thinking I may have covered more than I needed in my Assessment, I did head, breasts since that covered lymphatics in the chapter. I also did lungs and thorax, which I probably shouldn't have. The instructions were so unclear. Now watch me get marked down for doing something I didn't need, lol. I should have just stuck with the 2 chapters, but I was so unsure.
And I just checked, head and neck, chest and thorax are week 3 and 4. On the plus side I have them completed already. On the negative side I incorporated them into the summary, so I won't be surprised if I lose a point. But being that one part said 12-20, I didn't want to not include them and then get marked down. Crap. - Nov 19, '12 by cincinursemaryQuote from DidiRNWow.......... the other's must have been really, really, bad!I hate to say this, but for me, this is the best class I've had since Fall Semester started lol. I am already nervous about my "assessment" submitted week 2. I don't want my GPA to suffer because of bad instructions. - Nov 19, '12 by EmJeanRNQuote from DidiRNThanks Didi...I thought Evidence based nursing was horrible and I was in Leadership for a week before I dropped out, due to family crisis. OMG those two classes make this seem like a cake walk!I hate to say this, but for me, this is the best class I've had since Fall Semester started lol.
