Anyone else taking Assessment for Fall third session?

Suggestions from anyone who has taken it already?

What did you include in your Lymphatic System nursing assessment? I'm confused on exactly what I should cover in this section.

Specializes in Med/Surg, Neuro, ICU, travel RN, Psych.

How did you guys group things for each category? Skin is easy, but what did you put in the lymphatic vs the peripheral vascular? I'm confused.

I get head, face & neck for Chapter 13 goes under lymphatics, since it says regional lymphatics.

Do I put chapter 14 eyes, chapter 15, ears, chapter 16 Nose, mouth, and throat under lymphatics too?

Chapter 17 would be lymphatics, as it's breasts and regional lymphatics

Chapter 18 Thorax and lungs goes under vascular I'm guessing?

Chapter 19 would be vascular

But then chapter 20 references both?

I only did skin and put peripheral vascular and lymphatic together, since that was how it was presented in Chapter 20.

I thought we were only doing those 3 systems in our assignment, but I did see in the instructions about going through Chapter 12 THROUGH 20. I decided that it was supposed to mean "and" instead of through, but I should go back and read it again (for the millionth time lol) Maybe they wanted us to do all those chapters so we don't have to keep going back to our patient and assessing them again and save that information for later? I'm confused too.

I am having the same exact issue concerning the lymphatic system. I just know you palpate lymph nodes... There are several organs that help the lymphatic system. Are we suppose to put those organs on the examination? Ugh I hate this!

In the peripheral vascular section, I put objectives like jugular vein, peripheral viens, peripheral art, and tissue perfusion. I don't know if that is right but I'm done working on that section. Now I have to continue with this lymphatic system.

It's only going on week three!!!! Ahh I feel like I've been in this class for weeks already.

This is my third calss and I must say it is OUT OF CONTROL ( feel free to dock APA points for incorrect format!!!) I have been citing the same way in all three classes but in this calss I am loosing 3-4 points per submission!! I am an "A" student but I am failing with a 76% ! The assignements are poorly explained and when people ask questions we are told to "review the directions" REALLY we are professionals and from the sound of it most of us are good students do they honestly think we didn't first review the directions? I am so fed up with the lack of "teaching" the work load is insane for this course and the APA nazi is going to faile me!!

Ok rant over.......almost.... If I were not already this far in I would run in the other direction I will NEVER tell someone to attend OU. I have never attended a class that is so poorly taught yet so harshly graded.

I asked the exact question for verification... is it through or and.... ( re chapters), and got no response.

I did the 3 systems assigned, I didn't add the other chapters, it didn't make sense. I did lymphatics across the body.

And I totally agree with jilla1279 about the lack of teaching. It seems like since transition to semesters the online nursing program has gone way down hill.

I just remembered, I didn't add references to this assignment, I'll get dinged for that too.

Has anyone looked ahead to week 3? OMG! There are like 7 chapters to read, plus two articles, the DB, the assessment, and the teaching plan. It really is putting too much into one class. I think I spent like 24 hours working on last weeks class. They know this program is for WORKING nurse...

oh well let the torture continue!

I keep thinking it's going to get better but week 3 is insane.

I wish they would have given examples of a good narrative summary. I know that I've read a million of them in the past, and I know they gave us that paper to guide us, but I just need examples like the health history they gave us. I've looked online for examples of this, but so far not seeing much.

APA is not as bad as most think once you get to know it. I had a really good TA for the 1st nursing class and that helped. I used Purdue Owl alot plus I have Diana Hackers pocket style 5th edition manual to refer to. The actual APA book was useless to me.

It is not helpful for students to learn when a TA doesn't correct you along the way.

If you use OU's web sites for learning APA and getting the basics down, you should be fine.

Good Luck.

So yeah, this is last minute, but that's how I roll :)

Yesterday I posted on the Q&A about the consent but of course, no answer yet. If we are assessing our own child, are we just supposed to sign it as the parent/guardian with our name on the top of it as well? I'm using my 3 year old since he's accessible to me and all....

I agree with everyone here, this class is so disorganized, there is way to much work to be done in one week, and the TA (at least my TA) can not answer questions clearly (or at all...)

Fun times, fun times :sigh:

Yeah,I think the 12 THROUGH 20 was a mistake. I did see somewhere else where it said 12 AND 20. I concentrated on those two chapters. I did Integumentary by itself (skin, hair, nails) and then I put periperal vascular and lymphatic together. I've been puking all night, so I'm trying to finish this up and be done with it.

I'm submitting my assignments. I feel like crap and I don't even care right now. I still have to do my math exam and all I feel like doing right now is puking again. UGH! Hoping for a better day tomorrow. Good luck all.
