- Nov 12, '12 by cincinursemaryI'm freaking out, my laptop has a blank white screen. It won't do anything. I can't see anything.
I didn't save my 12 hours worth of work on a flashdrive. I don't know what I am going to do. I had my articles picked out and saved, my db done and was working on the assessment. I can't have lost all of that work.
I'm using a neighbors computer to check for updates.
Please keep you fingers crossed ........ - Nov 12, '12 by enuf_alreadyQuote from cincinursemaryDid you try a soft reboot ctrl alt delete? If so you may have to totally turn it off. Wait a bit, then restart. Word may save your document saying your computer was not properly shut down.I'm freaking out, my laptop has a blank white screen. It won't do anything. I can't see anything.

Good luck! - Nov 12, '12 by evieincoQuote from cincinursemaryShut it down and try to reset it by taking off the battery and just use the a/c plug. Turn the power back on and see if it will come back up. If the screen is still white, you'll want to test the screen display. If you have an external monitor you can connect it to the lap top to see if it's the screen display that is faulty or the actual laptop. It should automatically switch to the external monitor but if you just see a flash of the start up and then it doesn't come up again you might have to use the function button (fn) and one of your f keys (mine is f8) to switch to the external monitor. Hope this helps.I'm freaking out, my laptop has a blank white screen. It won't do anything. I can't see anything.

Please keep you fingers crossed ........Last edit by evieinco on Nov 12, '12 : Reason: typo - Nov 12, '12 by SmoothOperatorRNI would be freaking out, too. Wish you luck with that. I know a blue screen is bad news but not sure about a white screen. Last September I went Mac .... I'll never go back to a PC.
- Nov 13, '12 by cincinursemaryWhen all else fails, brute force........... I hit the darn thing...... ( well not that hard), but in frustration I plopped in down on my lap, the screen flew all the way out and it came on. I think it must be a bad connector between the screen and the base. I saved everything to a flash drive....... whew, that was a close one.
Guess I'll drop it off to be looked at tomorrow. - Nov 13, '12 by Simply ComplicatedQuote from cincinursemaryMan, glad you got your work saved! Please point me in a good direction to start this week. Something black and white would be nice. Do we have any black and white assignments in this program anymore? Where should I start?
