Community Health...who has taken or wil be taking?

Nursing Students Ohio University

Thought I would start a new thread on my next class coming up. I know Delta...you have already taken this class, and have commented elsewhere about some of the requirements.

Any words of wisdom you and others can share whould be appreciated.

I don't have my APA reference in front of me...but should the title of the study be capitalized? Not sure...

what part do you mean?

What you said is what I was referring to. I was responding right when you posted so didn't see your post.

i

f "a profile of professor quincy adam wagstaff" is a book title it should look like this

marx, g., marx, c., marx, h., & marx, z., (1932). huxley-darwin college office of comedic health practice and training, final executive study. a profile of professor quincy adams wagstaff. retrieved from www.horsefeathers.com

if "a profile of professor quincy adam wagstaff" is not the book title but part of the title of the article then it should look like this:

marx, g., marx, c., marx, h., & marx, z., (1932). huxley-darwin college office of comedic health practice and training, final executive study. a profile of professor quincy adams wagstaff. retrieved from www.horsefeathers.com

assume it's not a book but a comissioned study (done by the 4 marx brothers) and that this is the final report. the title of the study is "a profile of professor quincy adams wagstaff". assume it's actually an adobe download, so i think somewhere in there should be [pdf document] - after the title actually.

this kind of thing is something that citation machine can't help with and it's not in the owl guide. hard to believe that you wouldn't capitalize full proper names, like the name of the college and the person's name - and honorific for that matter. i've been loosing points in this class for apa format errors like caps when not needed or not including the document type. in this class, content doesn't seem to matter as long as the apa formatting is correct.

with apologies to groucho, chico, harpo and zeppo.

I would like to know the correct reference.

I have never cited [PDF Document] and I can't find the answer in the book or on line.

I have cited a [brochure], [power point slides], & [video file].

hmmmm. This is a good one Chuckster :)

As pathetic as it sounds I've let perfectly good references slide because I couldn't figure out the citation, etc and couldn't afford a bad grade. When you ask for help you get " follow APA guidelines" Bleh!!!

You'd loose at least full point from my TA, regardless of how good your posting was - the first word (and only the first word) in the brackets is supposed to be capitalized . . . I think.
I am in this class too and haven't found it too troubling. This being my last quarter before graduating...

This is probably why you don't find it too troubling, eh? :lol2: I can't wait 'til my last quarter! :D

Just got my assignment grade from week 3. This TA is really tough - I lost a full point for not citing a reference in the section in which we compared our local health department with another. This, despite the rubric not mentioning that one was required and despite having 10 references elsewhere in the assignment. I'm glad that some are not having issues with this class and can get good marks with less content but things can't end soon enough for me.

i agree. i actually received a 100% on my 15 page assignment!

i can't figure out the "weight" of assignments, db and tests.

my average grade was posted after the test was graded.

i received a 100% (gratefully) on both the db and the assignment and my grade only went up 0.65 % ......what's with that???

i understand your frustration. the quizzes are weighed so heavily that one bad grade (73.3% on my part during week two) had dropped me a couple percentage points. even though all my assignment and db have been 96-100% it didn't really matter. i hope the next two quizzes will not be too bad as i do not want to loose my a. my quizzes are not curved either so it sucks even more.

that's exactly what happened to me. A 76.? on week 2 quiz...I also have an A I do not want to give up for some CRAZY quiz questions. :) one week and 1 day longer.......
