I am planning to register courses for next session. If I would like to double up 4540 (community nursing) and 4580 (leadership), is that doable? What is the workload for each of them? What is the test style for each: DB, quiz, or... Read More

Thanks Imimica this really helps. I'm taking it next time too. I used to be a public health nurse and still work in community so hopefully this won't be too hard. Time consuming I'm sure.

I'm doubling up on these as well. I'm just hoping my saving grace is I work night shift, and have tons of down time (psych) so have plenty of time to work on school work.

Does anyone have access to the Community Nursing class yet? It is not listed when I log into blackboard. I'm hoping they have worked the glitches out by now. Did anyone take a nursing class the first session on blackboard and what problems were encountered? I took Music during the summer and the glitches/problems were very frustrating. Thank goodness the instructor worked with the students. Anyone take a combined class? I'm wondering if doubling up classes is doable. I was thinking about taking a nursing class and an elective. Thanks.

I took the 4510 class during the first session and it did have some glitches. The TA was super and I didn't have too many problems. They seem to be opening up classes slowly today-hopefully community will open soon! Good luck!

So those of you who are taking these two classes together, how are you feeling about it? I'm trying not to freak out, but I'm worrying I made a mistake taking these together, at least right now. I have a 7 week old son in addition to my 3 year old daughter. This is my last week on maternity leave, then I go back to working night shift 2 nights a week. These classes are intense, I just hope I can keep up.

Maybe you will get a lot of really quiet nights at work.. I haven't been brave enough to do 2 classes, but I think I might try it in the spring term and get some of my gen ed courses done ( Nutrition and either Psych or the Freshman Comp)

seems like a lot of work! I start a full-time job next week so I am just preparing myself for no life for the next 4 weeks. I took 30 credit hours in summer so I could graduate in december this is doable just no fun

Yeah, that was what I hoped when I took both. I did 2 non nursing courses over the summer, and it was a lot of work. But it was worse since I was 8/9 months pregnant. I work psych, so from like midnight until 5 am I have almost nothing to do. I can usually have all my work done by midnight so I "should" have plenty of time to do school work. We do have an occasional bad night if we get a lot of admissions or we have a patient freaking out, but even then it's not bad. At least not for me, since I did years of floor nursing, I'm pretty quick at getting the work done.

Good luck!!! It'd doable for me, I just feel bad because I can't give my 2 year old as much attention as I should be, and she's already lost some from the baby being born.
