4550- Evidence Based Nursing

From looking at the classes starting in fall, I'm guessing that Evidence Based nursing is replacing Research? Anyone have any idea if stats is still required prior to taking this, as it was with Research?

Others signed up for the Fall semester are seeing their courses up already in BB. I don't see EBN yet though - anyone else try?

I just checked (Sunday am 10:00) and it isn't showing up yet.

I just hope BB is up and running on that first day. I can't get in. This stresses me out because I am all too familiar with OU's system glitches. When you're in a 5 week course you can't afford to miss a minute. If anyone has never had a course in BB and logs in please let us know. In red letters it says something to the effect of valid authentication credentials were not provided. :( They must not have the course up yet.

@mtsteelhorse - when that phrase in red letters comes up for me on BB it means that I typed a wrong password or username. Just FYI. I hope your transition to BB goes smoothly and you are right when you say that you can't afford to miss a minute in the 5 week classes. If the log in is not working for you when the class opens up I am willing to give you info anytime. I'm sure there are others here who would be willing to help too. We won't let you get behind!

Thank you! I know I am typing in the correct password. I called IT and they said it's likely because they won't open the class until the 27th. Keep me posted and thanks again!

The email I got from the college re Blackboard for Nursing courses said it wouldn't be available until the 27th.

I'm bummed b/c I wanted to get a head start too.

Yep, the IT guy said the nursing instructors are going to stop early access. What a bummer. :cry:

That is definitely a bummer. A few days early access was nice as it allowed you to get familiar with the course, print things out, and etc...

I'm in for the Aug 27th start. Enjoyed a few days off and am ready to get this show on the road. The sooner we start the sooner we will be done. Only three more nursing classes to go (plus a few non-nursing courses)!!! I can do this!

I'm feeling sorry for myself today... I have so many courses to take. I think this 3 week break has been too long. It has given me too much time to dwell on what I still have to take.

I wish they had the semester DARS done so I could really tell what I still have to do. The darn thing is confusing the heck out of me.

When I looked to day it said I still have 80 credit hours to take......

On the DARS: Call your advisor and ask him/her to walk you through it. On the other courses, my advice is to adopt the "Eating the Elephant" philosophy to get through them. (How do you eat and elephant? One bite at a time.)

You can do it - take it from someone who knows: Over 300 credits and counting.

I agree with chuckster. If you want this go for it. You don't have to take all electives at OU either. There are some quick options to get some courses out of the way. Feel free to PM me. One course at a time and you'll get through this. And call your advisor. I got credits after the fact by following up and sticking with the process. We're in your court! I'm right behind chuckster in credit hours and hope to go on for my masters.
