4550- Evidence Based Nursing

Nursing Students Ohio University

From looking at the classes starting in fall, I'm guessing that Evidence Based nursing is replacing Research? Anyone have any idea if stats is still required prior to taking this, as it was with Research?

Those so called "quizzes" account for 60% of the course grade. Huge bummer. Just noticed our TA states grades will be posted 72 hrs after due date. Since the due date is now Tue this would mean grades will be posted by the end of the day Fri. So in other words we may have no idea what to improve on prior to needing to post to the DB. Isn't that helpful??? I would love to have a test 2 study guide as we have not received one yet. Can someone please PM me??? Thank you!

I sent you the study guide via email!!

Binglinger, I emailed it earlier today. Let me know if you int get it

Hopefully, by the way it sounds they might/should consider a curve with all the frustration we have all had thus far. You are not alone....I am sooooo not into this class. Make me think that going after my MSN is not such a great idea after all.

Is it the research part that makes you hesitant about grad schoo? Or is this course just bummin' you out? I go back and forth about grad school myself. Chin up...we'll get through this mess.

ohiomom, I received it. I appreciated your kind help :)

For me it's those darn tests and the value placed on them. Plus I HATE BB...but, we're into week two which is a bonus!

I know, these test are really worth a lot.

Received an email announcement today and it states that the study guide is attached but the study guide was not attached. If you received this message and are wondering where the study guide is, you can find it in the week 2 "question & answer" section.

We also received feedback about the discussion board stating:]]Week 2 Discussion Board]- Read the Fox & Chesla study & list 3 strengths & 3 weaknesses of the study. Write 1 well-developed paragraph (at least 5 well-developed sentences) describing what you perceive as the value of qualitative research. Identify at least 1 question that you have about qualitative research & how you would go about finding the answer.

Specializes in ICU, step down, dialysis.

Big THANK YOU for posting where to find the study guide at, I got the same email but could not for the life of me find it. Didn't even think to look in the Q&A, I guess I should check it out more often. I'm not real happy that late Sunday evening the TA posted to us about how we can wait until Tuesday to take the quiz...had I known that a head of time I would have waited another day or two.

I had two classes (non-nursing) with Blackboard over the summer and am amazed at the difference then and now. I know the nursing instructors are new to BB and all that, but disappointed as well as others at how utterly disorganized this class is.

I'm glad someone else goes back and forth too about grad school lol. I can't even make up my mind what to do in grad school if I do go.

I am waitiing to hear if I'm accepted. I'm nervous either way. When I consider the future without getting the PMHNP degree it's depressing. But when I think about school and the rigors of a graduate program...yikes, it's a lot to swallow as well. I'm sure that's normal for a lot of folks. My fears stem from the fact that I am so far removed from the traditional clinical setting. I have lost a lot of skills over the years and forgotten a lot of patho and pharm. Oh well, we shall see...

Okay, so I'm paranoid about the DB this week because our section likely won't have grades before Friday. Are you guys literally listing the strengths and weaknesses as a list the writing the paragraph? The other confusion lies in the fact that the critique has already been completed on this study so are we just rehashing in our words? I don't get the point.

Can someone tell me what chapter in the text the Fox & Chesla study is in?
