Hi ScottE. I was placed for Fall 2011, but recently got a call asking if I was interested in starting this Spring through the Parma General Hospital program. I am so excited I get to start in January and not have to wait until August. :anpom:

I'll be over at the Metro Campus. Quite a bit to do before orientation.

You'll be happy to know that the test they require you to take on the blackboard site is pretty straight forward. You can take it as many times as necessary to achieve the required 51 out of 53.

I was told that orientation is in November and that I will get the information email in October. I have the info about the immunizations/medical requirements and I am tempted to just schedule the appointments and get it over with. Did you do the CPR course?

The info I received through my Tri-C email states orientation is October 28 from 1:00 to 4:00 PM downtown.

I registered to take a BLS course over in North Olmstead.

We want BLS for health care providers.

Immunizations are

Hepatitis B

Measles

Rubella

Rubeola

Tetorifice

Varicella

Poliomyelitis

and a TB Double Mantoux test

The info I received through my Tri-C email states orientation is October 28 from 1:00 to 4:00 PM downtown.

I registered to take a BLS course over in North Olmstead.

Thanks for the info. I scheduled the CPR class for November just in case I am required to take it at Parma and have to cancel. It probably doesn't matter where you take it, but better be safe than sorry. I am taking it through the American Health Association. Thanks for posting the link.

Well from the information I received you need to be certified in BLS and show proof of such to the nursing department by November 19th otherwise you basically fail out of the nursing program. The qualifying courses are either the AHA BLS for healthcare provider or the American Red Cross certification for the Professional Rescuer. If you are officially in the program all this information should be in your tri-c email. You also need Health Insurance and need to purchase through Tri-C.

I got an email through my tri-c space stating that I will get the orientation email in October. I was just contacted this week about starting in the Spring and have heard that orientation for the PCGH is on a different date. I will call or email Heidi to make sure though.

That might be the case, the PCGH program is completely over there isn't it? You don't have to go downtown, all the classes are at the hospital?

I believe they are. I checked the class schedule and it looks like they accept 32 students to the program, mainly Parma Hospital employees. I am very happy to not have to drive downtown. That was the one thing I was dreading. On the other hand, I won't have the opportunity to do clinicals in any of the other hospitals. I don't know if it is a good thing or a bad thing just yet.

The Parma program is run out of the Parma Health Education Center, which is not at the hospital itself, but at 7300 State Rd. Clinicals for specialty areas (pediatrics, obstetrics, psych.) are not held at Parma hospital.

Thanks for the clarification. I was thinking that everything would be done at the Parma hospital. I guess I would have found out once I went to orientation. That location is so much closer to where I live.
