Tri-C in Cleveland

U.S.A. Ohio

A while ago I posted asking about the nursing program application process at Tri-C. I just wanted to update that I received acceptance into the Spring 2010 semester :D. The process was actually pretty fast. I am very excited. Hope to hear from others that will also start at Tri-C in the Spring.

NewStart2010:yeah:

foreverLaur - feel free to post it.

How is the entrance test to get into the RN program at tri c? I have to schedule my test and after I get results, I can apply to the program.. I was just wondering who has taken it and how it was?

Also, when I went to schedule the test, I searched for openings in the next 3 months and nothing came up.. has anyone else had to wait this long just to take the entrance test?

I'd expand your search area. It should be offered at least 5 days a week and they said you should be able to get in quickly to take it.

I've not taken the A2 but you only are required to take the reading comprehension and math sections so I wouldn't imagine they are too difficult if you properly prepare.

Yeah, when I searched for available openings some came up... but when I actually went to schedule the exam it said there was nothing available. So I'm not sure.. I'll have to call I guess. Maybe it's a glitch with the website or something.

Thanks for replying!

Let me know what you find out! They led me to believe I would be able to take the exam within a week!! It would be nice to know if I'll have to schedule way out! That will def change my plans.

For sure, I'll definitely let you know, I'll probably call tomorrow. It would mess up my plans also.. I plan on starting the program this fall but if I have to take awhile to take my test... then the program will be filled for sure. Plus, I believe we have to wait 6-8 weeks for the college to even get our results... then we can apply for the program.

I believe that has changed. I think you get your A2 results instantly so the school should get them faster. They also used to review applications once a month and I think they are doing that more frequently as well. You should be fine though. The Fall 2010 class probably won't fill up until June. I'll be eligible to apply in mid-May 2010 so I'll be starting January 2011 :).

foreverlaur --

your post made me nervous....you said you'd be eligible in May 2010 to apply and then would start in Jan 2011. I am taking micro this spring then I can apply once grades post -- do you think Fall 2010 would be filled up by then? I was hoping to start in the Fall. Also, if you would post flutterby's info that she pm'd you? I have many questions as well.

thanks

Aren't you able to apply for the program now?? Micro isn't a prereq for the program, unless you are doing accelerated, right?

I was going for the accelerated option, so micro is a pre-req. I am taking the NET on friday, so I hope I can apply to generic track, but I graduated from college in 93 and never took math since I passed out of it from taking AP exams -- my basic math/algebra is rusty -- I am capable certainly but I am nervous about the time limit of the test -- 80 percent needed to apply doesn't leave a lot of room for error! I am reviewing and hope for the best -- if I can get a slot in generic track, I will breathe a sigh of relief

Be sure to let us know how the test goes! good luck!

Yes, it will probably be filled. That's why I'm starting in January 2011. However, the accelerated program only starts every Fall so you probably won't be able to start until August 2011.

However, I would apply for the traditional program starting August 2010 NOW. You will get done sooner.

The August 2010 traditional program will graduate May 2011. The only difference is that you will have your summer off which you can use to do intensive clinicals while getting paid at UH or Cleveland Clinic or work full time as a nurse aide which will greatly help you land a job. I've heard some hospitals won't hire new grads without nurse aide experience.

The past two years, the Fall class has filled up in May. You will be eligible to apply in mid-May. Then once they approve you (which can take 30 days) you will be given the information to take the entrance test (Hesi A2). Then you schedule and take the exam, and the scores are sent to Tri-C. Then they send you the application. You apply and then they place you in the next available class. If you apply now, that will be August 2010. If you wait to do the accelerated program, it will be August 2011.

And yes, I'm going to post the information. It is a lot and is going to take me a while to type up. I've just been really busy because I have 3 jobs where I work 7 days a week and I've been trying to dismantle all my Christmas decorations :)
