Anyone else out there starting LCCC's RN program this fall? My orientation is May 7th, and I'm starting to get a little nervous!

I plan on applying for the program after the summer semester, mind if I ask how long your wait was?

I applied in Jan 2011. I had all my non-RN classes done by May '11.

Really? So a year wait! Ugh! That's what I'm nervous about. I already have a 4-yr degree (non-nursing). And I'm taking Chemistry and Statistics this summer, so I'll be eligible to apply at the end of summer. Then I have A&P 1 & 2, Micro, and sociology to take. So I'll be finished with those May 2013. With a year wait, not sure what I'll do. Bc unlike others, I'll have no more non-nursing classes to take towards my BSN. Bc my previous major covered all those. Fingers crossed. Wish there was a 4 year college closer to where I'm at.

You might consider Tri-C. Either the generic track at the Westshore campus, or the Accelerated track that is at the Metro Campus.

Not sure on Tri-C's reputation or accreditation. Do you go there? I know very little about it.

I think the average is one semester after you finish all of your support classes. Good luck!

There are a couple of us here starting this fall. I'm so excited! I took the BLS for healthcare providers course before the Spring Semester. I wish I had the physical form and the vaccinations lists because I would get all that scheduled too. I know I am going to need some vaccinations, I can't tell you the last time I had a tetorifice shot. I'm not looking forward to all the needles though!

I do go there and have 1 semester left. It's the largest program in the state. It's fully accredited, and has probably the best reputation of all the area programs. Nurse recruiters for the Cleveland Clinic say they greatly prefer Tri-C grads over grads from the other area programs (Case, Cleveland State, ect.) because you know what you are doing when you graduate.

They also have matriculation agreements with Ohio University and Ursuline. They are also working on forming more partnerships and dual enrollment programs from what I hear.

Just looked on the Ohio Board of Nursing. And Tri-C is NOT on their list of approved RN programs. Any clue what this means? LCCC IS on the list.

Yes, it is. Look under Cuyahoga Community College.

Nursing Program, Nursing Classes: Cleveland, Ohio

Tri-C is short for Cuyahoga Community College. Just like LCCC is short for Lorain County Community College and OSU is short for The Ohio State University.

The school is accredited with NLNAC and has been since 1969.
