Recent Hondros Cols grads having problems finding a job as RN?

U.S.A. Ohio

Published

Recently attended an information meeting at Hondros in Columbus. Still have many questions and concerns. Have any recent grads of Hondros had a problem finding a job as an RN in the Columbus, Ohio area? Has anyone told you that an ADN degree from a school such as Hondros will get you fewer opportunities for employment vs an ADN degree from a community college such as Columbus State or COTC? I realize all have to pass the same State Boards to get a license, but have any prospective employers had a problem with where you got your education?

Also, I realize that there's no waiting list with classes starting each quarter and the LPN to RN program can be completed in 18 months (which is all great), but the cost of the program seems outrageous. I'm currently working full-time as an LPN and have a daughter in college. With my current expenses, I won't be able to pay for school without loans. It just seems so expensive and I worry about the additional debt.

If you have any comments to make re: Hondros in Columbus or the best school in central Ohio to complete an LPN to RN bridge program, please respond. Thanks and good luck to you in the wonderful world of nursing.:nurse:

check out Marion Technical College, just north of Columbus. I think it takes 1 year to bridge, lots of people come from Columbus. Cheap in state tuition, around $100 a credit hour.

Thanks for the info.

CSCC might be worth the wait. It is dirt cheap! I applied July 2010 and start March 2011 and the program (no LPN) is only 21 months.

Nope, no issues getting a job. Fairborn Hondros grad (Spring of 2015) here.
