Need Advice on Nursing Programs in or Near Toledo, Ohio

U.S.A. Ohio

Hi, I just moved to Toledo Ohio with my husband and I am looking to start a RN program as soon as possible. I hear Owens community college wait list is long and after I talked to them I found out that having to take prereqs including chemistry and to be a STNA first that it would be at least next January before I would even be concidered. I didn't want to do a LPN program because of the fact it seems that most schools that I have seen that has it, it would be hard to transfer that to continue on to my RN which I want to do anyway. Right now I am concidering Bowling Green State University Firelands school but can't find much info from actual students as to how the program is there. Any info on that school or any other ones would be appreciated thanks!

I went to Mercy College of Ohio in Toledo and just graduated Dec 2012. Also this is the only ADN program in Toledo that has accrediation. Mercy will make you take Chem if you did not have this in highschool however not STNA first. Let me know if you want any info about this program.

I just applied to BGSU's nursing program for spring 14. UT/BG are combined into the same program & I've heard nothing but great things about them. I heard mercy is great as well as Lourdes. However Lourdes is super expensive. I'm not sure who told you there's a 2 year waiting list at Owens, but my friend applied& got in for fall semester with a 2.9 gpa. The only thing is their program lost their accreditation back in 2009 and I believe they're getting it back this fall. Good luck with whatever you decide! I know a lot about all the Toledo colleges except Mercy. Let me know if u need more info!

Hello, could you please tell me what the requirements to get accepted is? Also, any details or tips? Did you use your high school credits for bio and chem? Are these the only classes we need in order to apply! Thanks Iesha

You seem to write a lot of similar posts and put them on different forums.

How about doing some research yourself by going to the school's website, making phone calls, sending emails, etc.?

Mercy is the best school in the area as far as I am concerned. It is very hard but its reputation is outstanding. I am set to graduate in one more semester. I had classmates that failed out because they didn't go into it with 100% dedication towards it. They were super smart and could have passed but you have to be willing to put everything else on hold. It IS worth it. I am a single mom with a bunch of kids and it has been so hard. Harder than anything I've ever done but I will tell you, I've never been prouder of myself and I have learned a ton.
