Any one currently attending any of the Kent branches?

If your able to get your BSN in 15 months, then I would do it. I personally did not look into getting my BSN because we have four children and I wanted to get done with school ASAP. Currently, it will take me two years to get my prereqs completed...all 11 of them. Then two years for the nursing program. As it stands now (if I get in right away) I will graduate in 2013.

I think I might do that. I'll have 1 year to get my prerequisites done (and I only have 1 - micro). I'll start January 2011 and graduate May 2012. Thanks and good luck to you all!!! :)

Which branch are you attending?

The accelerated BSN is only offered at the main Kent campus 3 times a year and a University Hospitals cohort once every 4 semesters (one class at a time).

Yes that is their version of Anatomy & Physiology. You have to take both to have it transfer in as that class. However, their class will not transfer as A&P to any other school... just an FYI. For the BSN program at the main campus, they will let you take A&P in place of Structure & Function if you wish (and I would recommend it if you can).

In my experience, I was able to transfer structure and function as A&P, to an ADN program in a different school in a different state. No troubles whatsoever. I actually had to retake microbio because mine from KSU was only a 3 credit course, vs the 4 credits the ADN program I attended required.

I graduated from Kent State East Liverpool almost 25 years ago. I just got my BSN in 2008 and I had no trouble transferring in the Bio Structure and Function class from 1984. I looked at several different BSN programs and all were fine with the A&P requirements. Once you have an RN license, schools are often very lenient about what transfers in for an RN to BSN program, as long as the basic nursing program is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and the NLN.

I'm currently applying to the KSU RN-BSN program on line. I took my pre-reqs many years ago at YSU taking A & P I and II. I'm curious to see what transfers. There was some discussion on the phone that I might need Organic Chem. I'm not sure if I took it or not, but I'm not anxious to take any chem classes. As I recall, college, any college has some odd requirements (or ways to make money).

Snarf - just out of curiosity, did many of your original KSU credits transfer into the BSN program? I took my pre-reqs from KSU about 25 years ago. I am waiting for the official credit evaluation that will let me know what credits from KSU will/will not be put toward the BSN program.

I graduated from Fort Hays State University's online RN to BSN program. They accepted all of my original Kent State credits. Because I already had a bachelor's degree, I was not required to complete their general education requirements. The only non-nursing classes I had to take were a speech class and an algebra class. (I took Intro to College Math at Kent State but that did not count as a true algebra class.) I completed the BSN requirements in 18 months by taking classes primarily part time. Although I found the program frustrating at times due to communication and technology issues, the whole BSN program cost less than $5000. For that price I was willing to put up with some amount of aggravation.

Anyone accepted into the Spring 2011 accelerated BSN program?

Yes, I was accepted into the program at the Kent Ashtabula Campus. The call it the Integrated program there!

Does this school take biochemistry? And what gpa do you need to get in?
