I have only lived in Ohio for 5 years and I am really not familiar with the schools. I have recently completed the STNA course and I am waiting to take my State test in Canton. I really want to go to school for LPN. I was considering Bohecker College in Ravenna, does anyone know of this school and what kind of reputation it has? Any advice would be really appreciated....

Hi,

I live in Ravenna and was going to go to that school but chose another one just down state route 59 between kent & ravenna. Bohecker's is a lot more expensive. Good luck with the state test. I just took mine too.

I had a meeting with Bohecker here in Columbus. The program seems good. I have to go through their LPN program first then I can go right into the RN program, no waiting list. It's expensive, around $18,000 and that includes everything. Im not exactly sure how much Cols State is, Im sure not as much but I cant wait a year or two (if thats true) to get into Nursing school so I'll be paying what ever FAFSA and grants wont. The LPN program is 11 months and the RN is only 14. Thats not bad. Im also meeting with Cols State tomorrow to see really what Im looking at as far as getting into the RN program there.

Im not sure how far from Alliance you are but i just applied to the Robert T white school of nursing and i hear its a pretty reasonably priced college and ive heard some pretty good reviews for it

Hello,

Im trying to get into Boheckers LPN program so I can go on to their RN program but I have to take this HESI first. It's just basic vocab, basic grammer, math that sort of thing. I guess they said we cant use any notes or anything (I knew that) but as far as the math goes they said I should know how to do all the math problems on the calculator since Im allowed to use the calculator on the computer. That little calculator you can pull up on the computer? Is this what they are talking about? Addition, subtraction, division, ok I can use it for that but what about the mixed numbers and changing decimals to fractions, ratio and proportion, %'s, stuff like that? I dont know how to do that on a calculator? Not one off the computer anyway, my Texas Intrument yes but we cant use that. Any advice or has anyone taken this HESI entrance test?

I am just finishing up my third semester of the LPN program at Bohecker,Columbus. I am extremely disappointed with the program. The instructors are not very qualified. There are numerous problems and lack of clinical sites. I am feeling very apprehensive about taking the NCLEX-PN. I'm not sure if I can pass it. I have a 3.85 GPA, but can't pass the practice NCLEX tests. I feel that I was not taught what I needed to know. Also their credits do not transfer to ANYWHERE ELSE!!! I have poured $18,000 down the drain.

Wow, that sounds like an absolute nightmare.:o I'm really sorry you're going through that.

There's a nursing school in Alliance? I didn't know that.

I finished the LPN program at Bohecker-Columbus on October 21. I still have not received my ATT letter. I contacted the board of nursing to find out wht the hold up was. It seems that the director of the program did not send in anyone's BCI & FBI reports. So I had to go get fingerprinted again and have the background checks sent to the board.

I would think long and hard about going to a for profit institution. Yes, it may be easier to get started, but they are expensive. From what I have heard about the various for profit schools (Chamberlain, Bohecker, etc.) they do have a harder time finding clinical sites. They are not going to get first dibs on clinical locations when there are more reputable institutions vying for clinical sites. I know that Columbus State an OSU have enough work finding clinical sites for students and OSU is affiliated with one of the largest medical centers in the state!

Also, I m curious-- Why is Bohecker not listed on the Ohio Board of Nursing under LPN or RN programs in Ohio or in the NCLEX statistics? Did they go by another name in the past?

Bohecker-Columbus opened in November 2006. We were the first class to graduate from there so there aren't any NCLEX stats to report. They are part of RETS Tech I think they go under their name. I wouldn't recommend Bohecker to anyone. Some of the clinical sites were horrible and the instructors were even worse. The school was totally disorganized.

Where were the clinical sites?

Mostly LTC facilities. They couldn't any peds or L&D sites, so we had to go to a daycare.
