Columbus, Ohio- New grad wages

Hello everyone! I just had a quick question! I am graduating with my RN as of May 2013 (am currently working as an LPN) in Daytona Beach FL. The new graduate "starting wages" around here are pretty low- about $19-20 in the hospital; and my fiancé and I might head up to Ohio (where we both are originally from). Can anyone give me an idea about what the hospitals in/near Columbus, Ohio are starting new graduates off at? I would greatly appreciate it, thanks!!

I'm 2 hours outside of Columbus and started at $22/hr. I believe Columbus is about the same for wages.

Hello. I'm a new grad working at one of the Ohio health hospitals here in Columbus Oh. My starting salary is $23.41 and I think that's about the starting pay for most of the hospitals around here. I believe Nationwide Children's Hospital pays slightly lower than that.

Great, thanks. Would you happen to know if the hospitals do shift differentials? They don't down here- night and weekend pay is the same as regular base pay :-/

Yes they do. Ohio Health hospitals have a night and weekend shift diff of $4.75.

Thank you so much for your help, I really appreciate it. I do have one last question. I've heard "through the grapevine" that many of the hospitals in Columbus are "flooded" with nurses (which is hard to believe because we have such a nursing shortage here). Any thoughts, information?

You're very welcome. What you've heard is correct. Because we have a multitude of nursing schools in the central Ohio area, it takes a while as a new grad to find a job in the hospitals. My advice is to start applying before you move up here to expedite the process.
