I don't have to take psy 2020. Fortunately, the only classes I have to take are the nursing courses. I took pretty much all of the psychology and math courses for my undergraduate degree and I have taken care of all of the science courses this last year.

Yes, I have had someone look over my transcripts...three people, actually. I got very different answers from all three regarding the English requirements. As a result, I almost had to wait until next year to start because I was told I could take the CLEP test for English and we can't. I was pretty upset, but luckily I got into English 1010 the first eight weeks of the semester and the nursing program has space this summer. Have you tried running a DARS report? You can do that from the 'my info' tab of your 'my tri-c' site. I found it very helpful to see what requirements I have left to fill and I trust that much more than I trust any of the counselors!

I believe I will not have to take psy2020 either, and I know I have completed my math req. luckily. Interesting! I will do the DARS report right now! I did have someone look at my transcripts and he said everything looked good, all I needed was micro. (which I was in at the time) to get into accelerated.

well great, according to the dars report, I need psy2020. I guess I will talk to someone about this, as I have about 4 other psy. courses listed that I took in addition to the general psy. course. I wonder if I have to take it this first semester, I would prefer to wait until I am a little further into the program.

looking over the syllabi I am nervous about the three chance rule, where if you cannot get the procedure after three tries, you fail!

Ugh...I would definitely talk to someone about psy 2020. Hopefully one of your other courses will take care of that requirement! Did everything else work out?

I am also nervous about the 3 tries rule. I just keep giving myself pep talks and reminding myself that, based on the nurses I have encountered, people less-competent than me have gotten through this program so I should be fine! The language used in the new absence policy scared me a little bit too, but then I remembered that I haven't missed a class yet and I tend to be on time for most things. I think rules like that aren't made for responsible, hard-working people...they are made for the people that just barely pass or end up dropping out and I don't think that applies to either of us.

yes, everything else looked good on the DARS report. honestly if I have to take it, I'd much rather do that than another math class or anything else for that matter.

Haha! You sound like me, as far as other nurses we know, and thinking..."if she/he did it, I certainly can!" Yes, same here, I never miss class, never really did. I am a little nervous for fall, b/c I want to see my daughter off to her first day of Kindergarten! Would love to be there when she gets home too, but we'll see. Maybe it will be on a lecture day and I can just talk to the prof. about coming in late. I would hope they would understand.

I would be very surprised if the profs would have a problem with you seeing your daughter off on her first day of kindergarten...that is such an important day!

I was just at the metro campus for a meeting and checked out the health sciences building. It is MUCH nice than I expected...keep in mind, though, that my expectations weren't that high. It looks like a pretty well-equipped area and it was exciting to see everyone in their uniforms.

Nice! Good to hear. How much is it to park $.50? that's what it was at the branches. I need to print out directions before I leave work today.

Yea, I heard it is nice, and something about a "million dollar man" a dummy that we will use there. Did you buy your malpractice ins. yet? I plan on buying it tomorrow.

It is now $.75 to park and they got rid of the gates, so you need these little hang tag things. I am pretty sure you can log on to your 'My Tri-C' space and purchase them, so you might want to do that before you leave work. I am not sure where you purchase them at the Metro Campus.

I tried to buy malpractice insurance, but I was told we can't purchase it until we are actually registered for classes, so we'll have to wait until tomorrow at the earliest. Hopefully I will get a chance to meet you this afternoon!

Hey, sorry we didn't get to meet yesterday! So what do you think? I was really depressed last night. I am super scared. It almost seems impossible! I did register (at 11:30 last night), and am doing my clinicals at Hillcrest, and labs on Mondays. Did it seem to you that the second (fall) semester will be a bit less stressful than summer? I got that impression and keep tellling myself if I can make it through the sumer, I will be in the groove, and can handle the rest of it. What are your thoughts on yesterday?!?!?!?!

P.S. - lived in NE Ohio nearly my entire adult life, but am so scared of driving (esp. on freeway) during blizzardy weather, and getting downtown on top of that. No, I am not an old lady (31), but I have slid all over the road way too many times. I never see Tri-C close b/c of weather.

Please, please, please don't be scared. She was fairly threatening...what with her 40% first-time fail rate, but I don't think it will be all that bad. Yes, the courses are going to be demanding and it will take up a HUGE amount of time, but you are right, if you can just get through this summer you will be fine. Every time I felt myself starting to get worked up I reminded myself that people do this all the time. You can succeed if you take the time to study and breathe.

I am surprisingly feeling really good about everything. I had read through most of the information on the ADN board, so she didn't say anything I hadn't already heard. I liked all the nursing staff that I met and I liked all the students as well. I got the distinct impression that folks were pairing up and looking for buddies...probably a survival instinct. I was happy to see that there were a lot of people I recognized there from my pre-req classes.

Yes, I did get the feeling that the fall will be easier. I think that allowing more time to get through the classes will make it substantially less-stressful.

I am also in labs on MOnday. Which section are you in? I registered for CRNs 51433 and 51885...the second batch on the grid. I also got my clinicals at Bedford. I was somewhat relieved to see that not that many people were scrambling for Bedford...I took it to mean there aren't that many people from the program around me and getting my desired clinical sites will be a breeze. I was amazed to see Parma fill up before midnight!

I was a bit disappointed to find that we will likely be needing to spend a lot of time at school during non-lecture/lab times. I was hoping I would be able to use Tuesday and Wednesday as study times. Hopefully I will get a good lottery number and will be able to get a testing time close to regular class times.

As far as snow...it is going to suck. It shouldn't be too too terrible. We should be in the hybrid classes when winter is the worst, so hopefully that will mean that we need to spend less time at school and less time on the roads.
