STNA to LPN

by johnr

I finish up my STNA at the end of the month and am wondering if anyone has any suggestions of where to go to LPN school in the Columbus area? I would like to start as soon as possible! Any suggestions are appreciated!

There's several... COTC in Newark, Columbus State, OSU has one too I think. If you want to do it fast, a traditional college setting is probably not the route you want to go. They require you to complete Pre-Reqs before you enter their nursing program. You should look into 12 month LPN programs such as the ones in Mount Vernon, Strongsville, etc. They don't require pre-reqs and you can sit for NCLEX in 12 months. Maybe someone knows if there's a 12-month program in Columbus that does not require pre-reqs.

YES! I got my LPN at Columbus Public and Adult Education in 12mo. no pre-reqs. Now I can enter several lpn-rn bridge programs such as Chamberlain, Hocking or Boehecker. BTW, any inside info regarding Boehecker and their credits not easily transferable if you want to move on to BSN? Any-hoo, these bridge programs are only an additional 12-16mo depending where you go and all are ASN. Good Luck!

I have heard some negative regarding Bohecker. First, its hard to get info from them without going in an meeting with them. And they give a hard sell. The price for LPN program is in ballpark of $19,000. Columbus State is $4000 - $6000, not sure on the exact, but somewhere around there, also Columbus State's credits transfer to other colleges or programs, not sure about Bohecker. I think COTC is comparable to Columbus State. It is something to think about, especially if your paying!!
