sticky issue

once you pass the NCLEX do you have to work as a nurse?

Can you be forced to sign a contract, when you are not finished with one?

Thanks

I admit i'm a bit curious.
Is thre a specific reason you DON"T want to function in the pofessional role? Would you like to swutch careers? Have more clinical experience?

I feel that I should not sign any contracts, because I am not a Russian Bride, unless I get into specialty floors. I don't think that it is fair that new grad RNs have to work nights. I am far too energetic and proactive to work nights only. I also feel that 8 patients and 22 bucks an hour is not fair, when you slaved to a hospital full time overtime all weekends and holidays and didn't have anytime off, while attending full time nursing program, and I'm sorry waited 1 year for it, even though all the prereqs were finished for additional 20k at a University (not community college). . . and on top of no one knows other names but yours when it comes to cleaning up, walking transporting, whole units and the patients. Now your standing at 32 years old thin as a rail, moving 300 pound patients because you have a heart of gold and forgot how to say no long time ago.

You sound like you are in an unfortunate situation. However, if you have a current contract with a hospital, I would certainly be leery of taking on another contract.

I do apologize for asking but are you a foreign grad who came to the US with a contract in place? If that is the case, then I would consult an immigration lawyer familar with these laws.
