St. Elizabeth Medical Center

by oreo84

Hi everyone!

I know St. Elizabeth Medical Center is actually in Northern Kentucky, but since it is part of the greater Cincinnati area I thought that I'd check on this forum to see if anyone has any input about the working conditions, new grad orientation, or really anything! I'm trying to list hospitals in the Cincinnati area for my preceptorship preference, and someone suggested that I consider St. E's because they heard the work environment was great, but I'm just trying to get any other additional input if possible.

Thanks!

What exactly are you looking for in a hospital or what type of nsg are you interested in (i.e. cardiovasc, ICU, transplant, emergency, etc.)? I don't work at St E's, nor have I had clinicals in their hospital (except for a brief stint in their cardiac rehab outpatient), but I know they're Magnet so nursing should be pretty decent. However, a classmate I graduated with (who lives in NKy) started out there for a few months only to dislike her unit and start working at Good Sam (much further from her house). Not that you wouldn't have a good experience but think about what areas you would really like to go into and maybe request a hospital that has a pretty good reputation in that area.

I think I'm interested in cardiac nursing.. possibly a telemetry type unit. Not 100% sure. I'm currently trying to get more information about Christ as well. I was just wondering about this hospital (St E) since someone had suggested it to me, and I didn't know much about it.

Thanks for the message

i have a friend who has worked at st e on the tcu for several years now and she seems to be pretty happy. i did my med surg rotation there and it seemed ok. they still used paper charting there which was not my fav aspect, ubt over all it was an ok experience. i work at cinci childrens now though and i have to say that st. e pales in comparison to children's but thats just my opinion.
