New grad in cincy...am i being paid enough?

I graduate in a few weeks and i'm wondering how much I should be paid. I've been on three interviews and they are only offering me a little over $20.00 an hour. Is that right? Seems kinda low for all the time i spent in school.

I was thinking of moving to that area once upon a time, so I know something about the pay in that city. The RN pay range for new grads with no experience is $19 to $22 hourly in the metropolitan area where you work, so your pay rate seems right on target with the job market.

I'll also move this thread to the Ohio Nurses forum so you can accrue local replies.

I'm a new nurse in Dayton and make $22. A friend of mine is making $21.18. So maybe a little low...but definately in the Ohio range.
BTW...that 1st paycheck is absolutely AWESOME!!!

yeah that is about right. You can earn more as you get more experience, but when you are a new grad and most of what you know is book knowledge that is what you can expect, just wanit until you have a few years under your belt

I have 15 years as a PCA/NA should i ask for more? I know that PCA work is not nursing experience but it should count for somthing, right?

even with 15 years as an aide, it doesnt count. Are you an RN or LPN?

With no nursing experience this is what you can expect. As I said once you get some experience under your belt then you will have no problem going someplace else and getting more money or even getting a raise at your current job. Just stick in there and try to stay a year where you are even if you end up switching to another unit.

The place that you are at now are they LTC or hospital?

Its a hospital. I'll be working on the tele unit. I'm going to sign a two year contract in order to get half of my student loans paid (10K.) I work there as a PCA now so, i know how crazy things can be. For the most part it's a really good place to work. Thanks for the info!
