Moving to Columbus

I currently live in NYC and am moving to Columbus Ohio this summer. Met the right guy a year ago and he lives in Clintonville OH so off I go. I have worked in LTC since graduation as an RN 7 years ago. I would like to continue in long term care or work with geriatrics in another setting like maybe home care?? I'm most comfortable with rehab/nursing home. We will be moving to the short north area and I would love something close by. Would love to hear from people in the area about anything they can tell me, advice is totally welcome and much appreciated!

Columbus is a great, busy city. If you plan on working at any of the major hospitals, be prepared to take the PBDS test, that all travelers are talking about.

Thanks for the info. Do you have any advice for LTC as an RN in Columbus? We plan to move this year to the short north area of columbus and something near would be great. So far I really love columbus and can't wait to be there permanently. Anyone's nursing experiences there would be great to hear. Thanks for your help in advance.

Hello NY Nurse! I am from Columbus, but I currently live 2 hours away. I graduate LPN school in June, and we are moving BACK to Columbus this summer. I'm married with 2 kids (12 & 3.) I'll be a new nurse, so if you're looking for a friend in the area, here I am!

Hi,
An ECF/skilled nursing facility located in the Short North is Westminster Thurber Community Village.
It is supposed to be an excellent facility. you might want to check it out.

I did check it out and THANKS!! That's the kind of facility I was hoping would be available upon my move in a couple of months! Do you live in the dwntown area or surrounding? How do you like Columbus?
Love and marriage are bringing me there but I do like the feel of it and how it seems to be developing. How do you find the nursing need to be in that area? Thanks again for the tip!!
