Mercy Medical Center, Canton

Am interviewing there next week. Anybody on here familiar with the facilty? It is at least an hour away from me, so I don't know too much about it, other than what I got from the website. Just looking for some basic info, any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Mercy is in my backyard. Have worked there through staffing and had family on med-surg. Will also be starting clinicals there next week. It is a great place, with very friendly and helpful people. Good luck.

Thanks NrsJena. Was starting to despair of getting any info. Will be interviewing for a position in telemetry, (I think 9M).( Don't have my paperwork in front of me.) Just wondering if anyone knew anything about the facility or unit

I am familiar with 6, which is actually leased by Select and is seperate from Mercy, and 2M (Med-Surg), but have found the staff all over to be very friendly and helpful hospital-wide. It's big-but still in a small town way. I'm not familiar with the 9M unit though, so I can't help you there. I will be doing clinicals on 7M, starting next week. It's pretty easy to find your way around, but shout at me if you need help. (I've managed to get lost a few times..) Good luck-let me know how the interview went

The interview went great, at least in my opinion. Was able to job shadow for a bit today , but cut it short d/t time constraints. Go back Monday for a peer interview.
Didn't have much trouble finding thte place, just got turned around with the construction, took the wrong exit, drove around downtown Canton for probaly 20 minutes before I found my way back to 77N. Good thing I always cushion my drive time. LOL. Found Aultman while I was trying to find my way back to the interstate though.
Will let ya know how Monday goes.

Was in the area yesterday and noticed all the construction....Uggg. If I had known it was that bad-I would have warned you. I'm assuming you came in by 77S. Think you'll be ok to find it again Monday or do you want some help? Glad to hear it went well. What did you think? Aultman is actually only about a two minute drive from Mercy, makes my life easier some days

I came up 77N from Cambridge. Thanks for the offer, but I know where I'm going now, and won't make the same mistake twice. After Thursday, I'm really looking forward to starting there, when I get the call. Am fairly sure I've got the position, just don't want to jinx myself.
The unit is vary similiar to the previous tele unit I worked on, they just hang some cardiac drips that we would ship, so I've got to refamiliarize myself with those. Team nursing with a smaller pt load than I had in the other facility by myself. I'm really psyched. The manager said she would try to work it so I could do 3 12 hr shifts in a row, that way I can get a hotel instead driving all the time.

Mercy is a great place to work. It has a neat history too. Very friendly docs, nurses, housekeeping, etc.
I did my preceptorship there and was made to feel like I had worked there forever. Best of luck let us know that happens.
