LPN program at Columbus State

Hi everyone! I am very new here and trying to gather info.

Does anyone or has anyone attended the PN program at columbus state? If so, what did you think of it?

I am trying to figure out how often they except applications to the program. If it is just once a year or what ?

Also, do you have to have all your pre-req's done before applying, or can you be in the process of finishing them when applying. For instance, can you be finishing pre-reqs summer quarter and apply for nursing classes for fall quarter? Thanks for any info and feel free to add experiences etc...

I'm not sure about the LPN program, but the RN program accepts applications twice a year: starting in January for fall quarter and sometime in the summer for spring quarter.

Yes, you do have to have your prereqs completed before applying.

Thanks for the info! That is going to suck if that is the case for the PN program too In this case I won't be able to apply until January 2007....that would not be so bad if I could start with the spring class instead of the fall class.

The winter application period is for fall applicants and the summer application period is for the following spring's applicants.

thought i would update. i met with an extemely unhelpful advisor at columbus state. i found out that they are accepting apps this august for the spring of 2007 class and accepting more apps maybe around january 2007 for the fall 2007 class. do a little ways off she said that you could be fininshing up your pre reqs the same quarter apps are being accepted and still be eligible to apply. so that is good!

hi
I would try to contact Sherry Bockus, the program director, or Sharon Ward, who is her assistant. Try to get to Sherry if you can, since I think that Sharon is slow getting back to you sometimes. I think they just pretty much take apps all the time, and then fit you in when they can. I don't know about now, but when I started there was no waiting list, so my friend and I got right in. We just applied as soon as we had all but one or two of our prereqs done, and we were scheduled to finish them the next quarter. I think it was January, and we started in September.
All the jobs I've heard of are in ltc or homecare. Which works for me, since I'm hoping to start in the RN program next year.
If you have your LPN license, you can apply anytime, and they get you into the RN in the first available space, since you don't have to take all of the classes, you get to skip some.
Good luck!
