Re: Huron Road School of Nursing...
I just got accepted to Huron on Friday for the e/w program . It was a stressful process, becuase I was told they only had a few opennigs left as of last week but they accepted me today!!!! Im WAAAAYYYY excited. The neighborhood is the least of my worries, as long as we leave out in groups. My cousin just graduated in May, and she swears by their program. I have also taken all the pre-req's and the support courses, so it will be strictly RN classes for me. Im just hoping that I wil be able to complete any necessary paperwork work and financial aid in 3 weeks before classes start??? Good luck through out the program... we'll need it!

Hi, BubblyRN2be,
When did you do your group interview? I just recently did mine so I really don't know it it was too late for me to get a seat in the fall. It might have been... But I haven't heard anything yet, so, I dunno... Did they notify you by mail or what?
Thanks!

Re: Huron Road School of Nursing...
I'm also starting Huron in a few weeks, but I'll be in the day program! Good luck!! I also still have to take micro, so I'm pretty nervous about the workload.

Mommaofallgirls,
Well.... i had been constantly calling like an annoying bill collector. LOL. I did my group session in March (where like 20 people were there we got our files, telling what other classes were needed if any, and we had to write a paragraph on why we wanted to go there and be nurses.....is that what happened for your group?) But I had another class to take. I completed the class the end of June. The "commitee" reviewed my file the end of July. I called a week after it was reviewed and was told they're gonna offer me the class for next month (Aug), and I should be recieving something in the mail that says the same thing. Now Im watching the mailbox!!!! Should get something today or tomorrow. If I were you, I would call and ask for Student Services. They know your status. As for it being "too late".. I was told that they only had a "few" spaces left for e/w and they do look at a lot of factors to determine when they will let you start the program (GPA, degree already?, all support courses taken?, i think they may also look at the answer to that question they make you write at the group session?, and your financial aid status because that takes WEEKS if you havent completed it already and had it sent to huron) anyway, dont give up, you just might be one of the select few. If not, Janurary is right around the corner, and they may offer you that class | | No. 14 |

Re: Huron Road School of Nursing...
Vicki429... congrats! but what other "stuff" did you have to do once you were fully accepted and before class starts? ie. physical exam, background check, Teas test, are you registered in classes yet? etc. Just trying to prepare myself for whats needed beause im waiting on my offical letter any day now, although they are offering me Aug. Always trying to stay a step ahead, ya know As for MicroBio..... GOOD LUCK! that is one tough class. I took it at Tri-C . Of 25 students, 11 passed and most with C's. I think the instructor's personailty made it tough for us, but I know ppl who have taken it else where and its still hard. They say, if you make it thru Micro you'll breeze thru some of your RN classes. lol.
Hey everyone... check out this website to see how other students rate your teachers. Its VERY useful. www.ratemyprofessors.com | | No. 15 |

Re: Huron Road School of Nursing...
BubbkyRN2be - There are quite a few things you have to do, but it's not as big of a deal as I thought it would be. I had to get a physical/tb test/drug screen (all done in one shot). Criminal background check isnt anything...you just have to go to the CC administrative campus and that takes 5 min...they also give you your id badge. If you don't have a current CPR card, you have to get that. I just ordered most of my textbooks on amazon.com because they are less than the CC's bookstore. Here's the website with all the textbooks for this semester. http://www.webmedbooks.com/ccf/Cours...14794/de=17629
I definitely recommend ordering them now from amazon...they aren't much less, but a good 6 of them were $5-$10 less and weren't much less on half.com. Also, if you buy directly from amazon and not from the people, you can get free shipping....some of the books on half.com are less, but with shipping come out to be the same price and you might as well get new ones for the same price.
I also had to go to that book store to order our uniform ($120...).
The TEAS test is on the 19th or 21st (you get to choose) and they don't care what score you get except for the Math section (they're using it as a grade for pharmocology i believe???) I would study for that section just in case.
Orientation depends on what your doing (mine is on the 18th...).
Hmmm....I think that's it.
As for microbiology, I didn't have too many options regarding professors because it has to work with nursing classes. I survived undergrad with rateyourprofessors.com (I have a degree in something else already...big waste of time). lol Some are difficult but good teachers.

Re: Huron Road School of Nursing...
M.O.A.G. - ( i totally just nicknamed you ) definately CALL directly. Ask if the commitee reviewed your file beacause they just had a meeting on July 28. I emailed once back in March.... still no response. They're always really busy!!!! call , dont leave a msg, just keep calling till they answer. It seems kinda crazy, but it works. And they usually answer first thing in the a.m. or late in the evening, around 4:30-5:30. Good Luck.

I've been trying to call but they must be REALLY busy now because I can't get through at all. Did you get anything in the mail yet?
I do feel better now that I know how busy they are, though.
Thanks for your input!
