Hondros in Cincinnati

I'm starting the LPN program in July as well. I do know a girl that I work with that is currently in the RN program and has completed the LPN program through Hondros. She said that even though they only accept 32 in the RN program she had no troubles getting in. The reason for this is that even though 60 people go into LPN, many people drop out for various reasons, not to mention students whos grades do not qualify them to continue in the program. Another thing she said was that only 12 of her 60 went into the RN program and out of the 35 or so that graduated, most just went straight into LPN jobs and planned on finishing RN later, maybe to see if their employer would pay for their schooling. I wouldn't worry about getting into the RN program, just focus and study hard and keep your grades up and you shouldn't have any problems continuing in the RN program.

I currently attend Hondros (Cincy). You have to keep in mind that there is ALWAYS going to be something that you or someone else doesn't like about ANY school! Overall, I have been pretty satisfied with the school. I haven't been particularly impressed with my clinical experiences, so far, but the classes have been great! I feel like most of my professors have been extremely knowledgeable, and I am impressed with how much I have learned in the last 6 months.

Getting into the RN program is going to depend on your grades throughout the LPN program and your score on the exit HESI. Don't worry about how many people you start out with. That number will dwindle with each passing term. The only thing I can think of that you may want to consider before officially starting at Hondros, is that the school does not have NLNAC accreditation, so your credits wouldn't transfer to another school. (It won't affect your ability to sit for the NCLEX.)

I am about to start my third term in the LPN program. As far as I know, the only way to go to another school to get your RN would be to graduate, sit for the NCLEX (and actually get your license) and then apply to whichever school you're interested in. That school may or may not require you to take other classes before they'll let you start the actual RN program. (It will depend on whether or not they think the classes you took at Hondros meet their requirements.)

I was one of the first LPN graduates from Hondros. I have been working for nearly 1 1/2 yrs. at a clinic. All of my co-workers, RN's, Dr.s, PA's, etc. have told me that I operate like an RN. So I have to give credit to Hondros for that. I feel like they truly prepared me for the NCLEX and the work place. The clinical experience could have been better but I have heard they have improved in that area. Also, almost all nursing schools lose 40-60% of original enrollment so I wouldn't worry about getting into the RN program there. I am now taking RN courses at Excelsior College. All my nursing classes transfered. The Hondros general education classes did not. Fortunely for me I only needed 2 gen. eds. at Hondros (Psy. Lifespan, and A&P) I had the rest from previous college. I found all the professors and staff to be very helpful and personable. I had a very good experience. Good Luck!

Hey all! I'm at Hondros in Columbus. Was wondering if any of you are experiencing the same problems with financial aid. According to the disbursement schedule, pell grants should have been disburses around July 8 and loans around July 22. I received the loans, but am still waiting on the pell grant. Some others haven't had anything posted, and they keep giving different stories. Anyone know what is really going on?
