Good neighborhoods around UC area

Updated Feb 20, 2009 at 04:17 PM by dtadeusz

Hi all, I've recently been hired at UC and am scheduled to start in May. I am trying to figure out where would be a good place to live. I came from another city so I'm not very familiar with the area. I would like to say within 15-20 minutes of the hospital. Do you guys and gals have any good suggestions? I like the downtown vibe, but Im not sure what areas would be good to live in. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

Hey,

I don't live in Cinti but I go there very often since my fiance lives there. Hyde Park is a really nice neighborhood and is not far away from UH and the UC. It is safe and pleasant neighborhood especially between Kenwood and Madisonville. Im a junior nursing student and was offerent a job as a tech at UH but had to turn it down...hoping to work there in ICU when i graduate a year from now.

id personally advise strongly NOT to live near university. i work at cincinnati childrens and the surrounding neighborhoods are not safe. hyde park is a great area and your commute would be 15 minutes. oakley is close to hyde park and is relatively nice and less expensive. mt lookout is also a great option. if you are open to living in kentucky there are some nice areas there too that are also short drives. ft wright is nice (check out wrights point apts), newport, and ft thomas also are good options. i live in florence and the only time the drive is really a problem is when the weather is bad... but then again, thats just cincinnati in general because people here cant drive for anything.

No problem! Good luck to you too! You can check Erie Avenue, there are a couple of nice apartments buildings especially around the Kroger and the big plaza on Erie.
