COTC while living in Columbus?

I didn't go to COTC, but I do know someone who drove from Columbus to Newark daily to attend OSU Newark. She had always said the drive was okay, but it can be an annoying drive sometimes because she would take 161 out there... and it isn't really a highway so traffic can get backed up easily. Especially with gas prices getting so high I would weigh that in your decision also! Also depending on what side of Columbus you live that can make a big difference in distance. I personally hate long commuting, and although I'm commenting mostly on the drive rather than the program, if they have a great program and you have you heart set on it, I would go for it! :-) Good luck with whatever you decide

It they accept people every quarter and it is the quickest way to getting to your goal (NURSE!) it sounds like you would be making a great decision! I hope everything works out

I live in Reynoldsburg and go to nursing school at COTC, and it is not too bad. I have my classes and clinicals (the clinicals are mostly in Newark also) condensed to 2-3 days and while they are long days I would rather be there all day instead of driving every day. If you have any other questions on the school please feel free to ask. I am in the lpn program and will do the 3 quarter bridge program there also.

I live in Columbus and go to nursing school at COTC. It is about 48 miles one-way. The drive isn't bad but with the gas prices, it is killing me! I have classes 2 days a week plus 1 clinical day. I have gotten lucky this Spring quarter and this Summer quarter in getting Columbus hospitals for my clinical sites. I am also able to take 2 of my classes on-line this summer. The program is not too bad overall. Although, they have changed everything after I started so I'm not sure what it is like now with the new curriculum. Only 3 quarters to go! Yeah!

hello, I am a new LPN grad waiting to take my NCLEX. I am considering COTC for the LPN to RN program. I see you wrote that you have classes 2 days a week and 1 for clinicals, what are the times of your classess? I'm still trying to see if this will work for me and it helps to know the earliest you are there and the latest you would be at school. For me cotc would be about a 35-40 min drive but I'm willing to do that if the hours work for me. Thanks for any info you can give me!

I cant say for sure this is how they are scheduling the new curriculum but my classes have been one day a week 10-11:50am and the following day 10-11:50am w/a hr break then 1-2:50pm. Your clinical day is 7am-5:30pm. Because they have to place everyone at the clinical sites, you dont find out where you are going until a week or two before classes start. I have gotten lucky the last 2 qtrs and have had Cols Hospitals for my clinical sites, but I have driven as far as Zanesville and Knox County Hospital. As more nursing schools are opening, it is making it more difficult to find clinical sites. We used to go to Mt Carmel but I have heard from some of the nurses that they are now only going to allow Mt Carmel nursing studens to do clinical rounds there.

I don't know if you're still interested; but I live in Gahanna and COTC's ADN in the new program. A TON of people in my cohort live in the Columbus Area. The first quarter clinical was in Zanesville @ 7:00 AM, but I was able to carpool with a group of 4. I have had clinicals at Dr. 's West, Mt. Carmel West, Children's, and 2 rotations in Newark. As for class, we usually have class 2 days a week and then a clinical day. You can search the class schedules on the website to get an idea of what you would be in for. I have enjoyed the program so far, the drive hasn't been that bad. It's a means to an end for me, it's what I want to do. I wouldn't have gotten into CSCC until this fall, when I am starting my 4th quarter at COTC. Hope this helps!
