Cleveland/Akron areas

You came to the right place. I just got out of the Navy a few months back and moved back to Ohio. I am living in Tallmadge which is one of the small towns around the Akron area. My wife passed her Nclex a couple months ago and has been working in Barberton (another small town around Akron). I will be starting classes at Akron University this summer to get my BSN. So I am in a pretty good position to answer most of your questions.

As far as wait lists go... I know Stark Community College says they do have a wait list and offer an ADN......Akron University (BSN) has NO WAIT LIST they only take the best applicants each year, which is why I chose to go there...if you get good grades chances are you will be accepted, they choose students based on their Science GPA.

There is a pretty good demand for RN's here. There are many hospitals within a 20 mile radius of akron...at least 5 that i can think of right around akron, i am sure Cleveland has a lot up there too. My wife had no problem getting interviews; she went to a lot of them till she found what she wanted. Summa Health offered $21 an hour +2 dollar night shift differential. Barberton hospital offered $23 +2 dollar night shift differential....and plenty of overtime available.

I had to research this move a few months ago and plan out my college too, so I know how much trouble it can be to make these important decisions for the future of your family! Send me a PM with what you want to know about, I will also be buying a house within the next 10 months so I am really looking into all the towns/areas/neighborhoods/schools I have 2 children myself. I could write a novel on just the general information I have gathered about this area, and I am still learning. By the way, was there any reason why you are going for the ADN vs. BSN? In this area....with the wait times...you are usually further ahead just going straight for the BSN...3 years for a 2 year ADN degree/or 4 years for a 4 year bachelors....(I detest wait lists...makes no sense to me why I should have to wait to give someone my money for an education).
