Hello,

Everyone has their own opinion, and this is only MINE. I realize some people may have had a different experience with Cincinnati State College. I personally found the school to be horribly disorganized. Advisors don't really know what classes you need to take and sometimes give incorrect information. Everyone seems "too busy" to deal with you, because as you said, they have tons of students and not many advisors. As far as classes go, I had some really great instructors and some not so great ones. I think you will get out of any class what you put into it. However, having a good instructor does help. I attended there for three quarters and got tired of the confusion, disorganization, and the "waiting list." Unless your LPN-RN bridging, you will be waiting for at least 3 years, from what they told us. I waited eight months, and then dropped out of there and am getting ready to start Bohecker College in December.

If you are a person who can figure things out for yourself as far as what classes you need, and you don't mind waiting a few years for clinicals, you will be fine at Cincy State. For me, personally, it didn't work. Good luck!

Just a heads up - they're required to tell you 3 years, but that doesn't mean you'll wait that long. I waited exactly a year for clinicals and I'm in the RN program. I've been a student at a large 4 year university, so I can honestly tell you it's the same crap everywhere. The advisers have a ton of students everywhere, and you're expected to handle things mostly on your own. My pre clinical adviser was useless - it only took one visit with her before I took matters into my own hands. Once you're in clinicals the quality of advisers gets much better. That being said, you need to be proactive about EVERYTHING or you'll get lost in the shuffle.

That extends into clinicals too. Good grief. The first couple weeks none of us knew what was going on! Once you get into the groove it's okay but adjusting was rough for me - but I'm the type that likes everything to be neat, orderly, and outlined before I start anything. I don't like organized chaos.
