No I have not decided. I talked to Ms. Gaffney and explained my situation, and she even commented on how Good Sam has a stellar program. I'm sending in my $ this week and until I decide I will fufill the requirements for the physical etc. I'm leaning towards Christ also because I probably will not get into Nursing clinicals the first semester at Good Sam. Of course this will delay graduation. There are so many good things about both programs. I feel that I cannot make a bad decision. One thing I like is that Chemistry is not a required part of the science curriculum. I didn't take Chemistry in high school and I do not know how easy it will be at the college level. What ages are you guys? I'm 39 and I felt there was not many non-traditional students coming in August. I guess it was hard to tell since many people brought someone with them. Although there were the two or three current students who talked that were non traditional. I'm currently taking an online english course since my credits are too old. Hopefully this will prepare me for the english entrance exam.

I just applied for a job as a Health Unit Coordinator, so I'm crossing my fingers. I wanted to apply for a PCA or Transport position, but all I found were either full time or 3rd shift. Both of those wouldn't work for me with school and all. I'm going to do the two year track. I've already had a go-around with college and have been waiting for over 2 years already, so I want to jump in and be an RN! But of course, I may change my mind at some point. Are any of you guys going to have a laptop or PDA or anything for school? I'm really thinking about getting a laptop for note taking, or just to work on things while I'm at school. I also think I'd like it for when my bf is out in the living room and I want to be with him, but still study at the same time.

Ms. Gaffney seemed really nice and willing to help/advise. I've heard good things about Good Sam's program too. I think you're correct when you said that you don't think you can go wrong choosing between Christ and Good Sam. I didn't realize that you wouldn't get into clinicals your first semester at Good Sam. I was also glad that Chemistry wasn't a part of the science curriculum. I took in high school and in college and I just do not like it at all. There is a little bit of Chemistry involved in A&P, but it's easy to pick it up as a part of the class. That's a good idea to freshen up on the English. I'm going through and reading over my old essays from college to prepare me for the placement exam. I really do not want to take English again. I am will be 23 when I start at Christ. I agree with you that there weren't as many non-traditional students there. Most of the people I saw looked like they were high school students, or just out of high school. Well good luck with your decision Christy! Consider it a blessing to have two great nursing schools to choose from!

I have a laptop that I will be taking to class. I think they're great for note taking. My only prob is I have to load microsoft word onto it, I only have notepad or something like that. I really thought of taking the two year track and if I were still living with my parents I would, but I know it would be more sensible for me to take the three year track. I'm 19 and after I graduated from high school I took a year off to be a nanny, so I guess you could say I'm a kind of non-traditional student. Hehe Good luck to you both Amanda and Christy!

Is anyone started on the English Placement test for Christ yet? I started it and have passage 1 and 2 complete. The argumentative essay looks to be a bear! Just thought I'd ask if anyone else has started.

I just finished up my passages 1 & 2, and have an idea of what to write for the 3rd passage. I saw in the instructions that it doesn't have to be any set length, it should be thorough, but also concise. Geesh! How long are you guy's essays?

That English placement was soo hard. I hate that type of work. My third passage was about 1 1/2 pages. I turned it in today and that was a load off my back. I also hand delivered my scholarship packet. Did you apply for any of the scholarships or did you just sign the tuition benefit agreement?
Well hopefully you are finished with the english and are breathing easily now. What tract did you decide on. I'm choosing the A tract. So I'll have Monday's off and clinicals on Tuesdays. The thought of being at the hospital at 7:00 am makes me want to. I live 45 minutes away with no traffic. YUCK! Oh well, hopefully I'll become a morning person.

Grrr I am so glad that English placement is over! I mean who cares about Machiavelli? I was hoping they would have given us something at least interesting (like health care related). Oh well. Mine ended up being about 1.5 pages too. I really hope I don't have to take ENG 101 this fall. I didn't apply for any scholarships because they were all need based and I know for a fact that my family's EFC would have been too high. Even though they are not paying for school, since I'm 23, their income still needs to be looked at. So I just signed the TBA. I'm thinking about Cardiac nursing, so working for the "heart hospital of cincinnati" would be a great start to my career. I'm really leaning toward the C track. That would give me Mondays off and done with classes by 2:30 (I live up past Kings Island so I have a long drive too), but the A track is definitely my second choice. I hear ya about at the thought of being at Christ by 7am for clinicals! I'd have to get up at like 4:30am to be there on time! Yikes. Oh well, it will be sooo worth it in the end. I'm planning on buying a TON of coffee grounds from Sams Club and getting a HUGE travel mug for clinical days!

Hi Kelley,
I just answered your questions on a different thread, but I wanted to add more of my here. Once you have your STNA, I would apply like crazy to Christ, or other hospitals for that matter. You could be a Patient Care Assitant (PCA). That will really help you out with school. You'll already have the hands-on care down pat! Plus, there is a section on the Christ College's application that you can list healthcare-related employment. How good would that look to say you've been employed with a hospital in a patient care setting? Awesome. Just a thought. You could also be a Health Unit Coordinator (HUC), but since you will have already had the STNA training, I'd go with the PCA position. Just a thought... good luck!
