The Christ College/ help with medical req's

by jpicard

Hi, I was hoping someone out there who has attended The Christ College or is going to soon has any advice on getting the medical requirements done as cheaply as possible. I need titers for varicella, hep. b, mmr, a physical, and ppd. I've had all the shots when i was in the military, but i can't track down my medical records. anyone have any advice? I have insurance, but by the time i go to a doc office, get referred to a lab, etc, it might end up very costly. any cheaper alternatives? clinics maybe? thanks everyone!!

Jpicard,

I will be a new student at Christ this fall. My advice for you is this. First of all, what county do you live in? I believe Hamilton and Butler counties have a public health clinic that offers these services at a reduced cost. You could also contact your insurance company and see if lab fees are covered. Some plans do not cover them, unfortunately. If they are covered, it may benefit you to just go to a doc's office. Some local doc's have labs right in their office building. You could also email Jane Crenshaw (Jane.Crenshaw@thechristcollege.org) and ask her about where student's have had luck in the past. I'm sure she'd be a good resource. I used to work at Mercy Urgent Care in Mason and Eastgate (they both have an occupational medicine side to the office), and they did physicals and ppd's. I don't remember how much they were, but it seemed they weren't too bad. It's the titers that may be an issue. Good luck with your insurance company, and your quest to have everything in order before school starts!
