CHAMBERLAIN, Columbus Ohio

I graduate in May with a bachelors in Health Studies from Michigan State. But my dream career is to become a nurse so I recently have been doing some research and came across Chamberlain. So I want to know how their admissions process is. Is it really hard to get into? And I also see that the ACT score is a factor in the admissions process. Does anyone know if the ACT is required, cause I never took it. I went to a community college first for a year then transferred and test scores arent needed to go to community colleges. I just want to know about the competitiveness because it was pretty much impossible for me to get accepted at MSU to the nursing school. Every year over 4,000 people apply and they only accept 60 , so yeah thats like extreme competitiveness. Im looking at the ADN online program

My current GPA is 3.37 but I hope to bring it up before graduation. Oh and how soon should I apply to start next fall?

(I have 2 kids too so how are the prices of housing in the area)

If you are going to have a bachelors degree you should consider a second degree or advanced placement such as mount carmel or osu (Im not sure if chamberlain offers one and there could be other out there too). I know that at mount carmel if you have a bachelors degree in another field you can attend their second degree program to earn a BSN in 13 months. It is full time and its time consuming but it would be worth it if you already have a bachelors degree. Good luck in pursuing your nursing career!

I have been looking into accelerated programs as well but Im kind of scared to go that route because I have 2 kids and when I move to Ohio I wont know anybody. So in other words I wont have a support system to help me out and Ive heard that those programs are extremely rigorous, I have been thinking about it though. Do you know how hard it is to get into Mount Carmel or OSU? Not sure if my GPA is good enough.

I completely understand why it would be hard for you to complete a program like that! I don't know much about osu but it would be something to look into. On mount carmels website (mccn.edu) it says they require a minimum 3.0 GPA in all previous coursework. There is more info on their website.

I graduated college with a 3.34(biology major) back in 2002. I applied to both Mt. Carmel(just the regular BSN program, not the accelarated track) and Chamberlain. I didn't get accepted to Mt. Carmel but I just got accepted into Chamberlain. Both required high school transcripts. Chamberlain had you take a pre-screening test that weighs into your acceptance.

When will you be starting Slae? I havent sent in my application yet but if I do decide to go there it would be for the ADN online program. I want to do the BSN but it's just way too expensive to go that route there. I already applied to Christ, Mercy, and the accelerated BSN at Indiana Wesleyan. Oh, I applied to University of Miami too but I dont know why cause I cant go that far without a support system. Just curious to know why you didnt try out an accelerated program?

I will be starting their BSN program, March 1. That's great you have applied. I know you will get accepted somewhere. The reason I decided not to do an accelerated program is I'm a single mom and I can't afford to stop working. I meet with the advisor on Thursday to see which credits transferred and things like that. I should be able to shave off at least(fingers crossed) because my undergrad major was biology. So, I have already taken chems, maths and of course all the biologies.
