2 of the nurses I work with did go to Bohecker in Columbus and were told once they were in deep for around $7000 that they lost their accreditation due to low pass rates, I think they may be on probationary approval now but anytime this happens it is a red flag to me and I avoid any association with any new schools like them. Columbus State, Mt. Carmel, scholls that have been around for awhile are the ones I always feel are the best bet, why be the guinea pig for a school ? And just so you know when a school oses their accreditation the people who have obtained their degrees from there are essentially stuck

I would be careful because I was going to go here but checked out the board of ohio's website and theirs is the only one NOT listed on there as being an accredited school. Also... I know someone who is in the medical assisting program there right now and the board came in beginning of year and got rid of a whole bunch of staff. On top of that...... you won't be able to do your internship at Children's Hospital (and one other... I forget which one) because of some of the students messing up. They lost their spot with two hospitals so I would be careful.

I attend Hondros in Columbus and have no complaints. Instructors are better than I could ask for and very knowledgeable. Well, one of our teachers isn't the brightest, but overall it has been a great experience. I think the important thing to look for is accreditation. After that, it's really up to you with what you get out of your education and what you put into it.

I am currently attending Bohecker for my LPN. I am very satisfied with their program so far. Be aware they are really strict and does not care about the money cause they will boot you for scoring anything under a 78 or miss 2 days. As far as being accredited. Staff has told me they are in the process of being accredited nationwide. Overall it is pretty hard and there is tons of information to mash into your memory.

Good luck Chris. I don't go to Bohecker, but these last 5 weeks, I was going to school 5 days a week and averaging over 30 hours working. It sucks, but it is possible, especially if you have supportive people around you who are willing to help out. Oh, and I have 4 children, my youngest is only 8 months old. GOOD LUCK!

Yea Chris I work part-time.... And trust me it is going to be one of the biggest challenges that await you if you do indeed work. But my advice is STUDY GROUPS and studying period! It will help like no other. Oh they now have their accredidation. It was on probation cause of low pass rates. If you decide to go here you must be willing to make sacrifices with your schedule or it will tear you down like any other full time school.

I wouldn't recommend anyone going to Bohecker, or Hondros..I am in Bohecker's LPN program during the evenings and let me tell ya, it sucks. The only class that all the students are having trouble with is the Nursing class. Our teacher doesn't teach us anything, she does powerpoint presentations and considers that a lecture. Then we have tests every monday over 2 chapters. I don't work, I do have a 4 yr old son, so essentially I have a lot of time to study and so do many other students in my class, and guess what??? No matter how much time you do have to study and think you are ready for this nursing test, you are wrong...everything contradicts each other. We have 2 books, one for our nursing class and another for our labs which are on Thursdays. Both of the those books contradict each other, then the power points "lecture" that we get contradicts EVERYTHING!!!! Then the teacher tells us that she doesn't want us to learn what's in the book, she wants us to learn what she tells us. Her tests are so ridiculously confusing, every question at least 2 answers that are correct, maybe 3 answers that are correct, then you have to try to guess which one she's thinking is correct. We have these forms called "Test Item Protest" and the WHOLE class filled at least 3 of these out for questions that her answers contridicted what was said in the book. We are taking a Pharmacology class and a Psychology class and the instructors in these classes are very good. They explain everything, if you have a question you ask with no problems. If you ask a question in our Nursing class, not only do you get a dirty look from the instructor, you don't really get an answer. If you work and have kids, then you are really gonna have it hard. This school is not family/work friendly. they don't give a crap what's going on with you, they just want your money...and it's very expensive to go there. It's 21k for the LPN. A friend of mine in the class and I have found out that since Bohecker is NOT Nationally Accredited, NOT ONE of our nursing credits will transfer. Once I continue on to my RN, I am basically going to have to start over. One school said we would be 22 credit hours short for the LPN to RN transition. 22 credit hours!!! that's at least 6 months!!!! So learn from my mistake, I would go eslewhere, it would save you a lot of time and stress.

I'm in my second term at Bohecker, a girl in my first term transferred over to Hondros because she was so angry and fed up with Bohecker during our 1st term. Our 1st term was ridiculous, we had one instructor who lost our midterms and said we were going to have to take them again. The same instructor was giving us tests where the answers on the tests were not correct with our textbook, the book said one thing and the test said something completely way off. now just from what I've been told from ppl that stay in contact with her, Hondros is worse as far as instructors go. When she had her first day there, they didn't have any schedules, no instructors for the nursing class, she said the students were told they would have "fill-in" instructors until they hired a perm instructor. But she did say because of that the classes are way easy. The accreditation issue had a role in her decision to leave Bohecker also, she said Hondros is affllitated with Captial, and Capital is Nationally Accredited. I'm stuck now, I wish I would have researched Bohecker better, I was just going through the Ohio Board of Nursing website, and Bohecker isn't even on there. Bohecker says they have 2 "sister" schools, one in Ravenna, Ohio, the Rets School of Nursing, and then there's Medix School in Townson Maryland. Not one person in my class is happy with this school, and trust me, we vent about it everyday, cause we know the majority of us are screwed once we graduate. Two ppl that left the first wk in our 2nd term got accepted to the Columbus School of Practical Nursing. I talked to the girl, and she said all of her and her husbands credits transferred and it's a lot cheaper, it's only 8k, it's day classes from 8-5, they are on the board's website and have full approval whereas Rets only has Provisional. and I just noticed that today , but it's my fault.
