ATT and NCLEX ?? and job offer struggle...help!

We graduated around the middle of december in 06 and i think i got my ATT by Mid Jan and i took the test the first week of Feb so i'd say that's about right. Mostly the reason they are probably saying that it wont be until Aug is due to the number of testing facilities and how fast they fill up. There were a couple of girls i graduated that wanted to take their test ASAP after gettign their ATT and they drove from dayton to columbus to do so, i wanted the dayton test site so i waited and made my appt for feb.

I had my fingerprints taken electronically for $88.00. SIXTY days later, they had not yet been processed, "because they were so behind with the huge volume of work." Yeah, yeah, yeah, I had them taken electronically because it was supposed to be faster. I called the Board twice, and I was told the hang-up was they didn't have my fingerprints.

I mailed my money order and paperwork/photo on March 17, certified mail receipt stamped March 19 in Columbus. Then the Board said they didn't have my fingerprints a second time, when in fact, they had been mailed to the attention of a particular somebody and were, in fact, "in house."

Put the Board's phone number on speed-dial. Pearson Vue won't do anything for you. If you do your fingerprints at your local courthouse, it will "probably" be electronic, but should cost under $50.00. I went to the Archdiocese (they charaged a little extra, and I was ok with that; didn't know the courthouse downtown was electronic now; thought they were still cardboard.)

If you MUST test ASAP, think outside the box. Be prepared to drive a distance and stay overnight at a hotel. You *might* have to wait if you want to test locally within a particular calendara month.

Other jobs can and will come your way. This particular nursing home is not the only show in town, are they? I "get" the part about not wanting to burn bridges and keeping a regular paycheck, but this place is not your first and last employer in your entire lifetime, are they?

Take a deep breath, take a step back, be polite, and whip out your handy-dandy calendar. Where do you see yourself at Halloween? Where do you seen yourself next summer? You don't have to take the first job offered. If you are "at liberty" this means you don't have to madly reschedule your hours to fit interviews in. This is the time to weigh your options and reflect upon what is offered and think about the career path that will get you to where you want to be. Are you looking for a place that offers tuition reimbursement? Offers in-house college classes? Delivers a kick-butt employer match on a 401(k)? Promises and deliveres upon a straight day/straight night/ weekends/no weekends schedule?

Do not come from a place of lack. Come from a place of prosperity consciousness. The world is your oyster and you are a favored child of God. It is never an insult for a place of business to grant you a valid job offer. Weigh it. Examine it. If it is not for you, kindly and politely put it back on the shelf; somebody else is jumping at the chance. Your job is waiting for you to come and get it.

I did not get three job offers I interviewed for, (and one broke my heart) and I almost cancelled the interview where I did get hired (because I had a job set up to start in May at a hospital that offered an in-house Bachelor's of Nursing program). I am so happy, and in hindsight, I see I will receive "oodles" more training here than at the job I did accept (and later, politely, two weeks before orientation, declined.) My fifth interview was the perfect place. And I was unemployed and living on my tax refund for the entire month of April. Have faith. You got this far. Just because you are invited, doesn't mean you have to go. fifi rockefeller.

In regards to the ATT, I graduated from Kent on May 9th and received my ATT just about a month later. Good luck to you!
